I’m all for accountability, and defending your player .. but was the call out on Gregg Berhalter by Brian Schmetzer merited? #futbolamericas #MLS

  1. Roldan got his chance and didn’t do anything he isn’t a trash player but all the European midfielders are better then him and some mls midfielders are better then him so like he said Gregg brings him in for leadership and vibes lol 😂

  2. It’s great how Schmetzer mentions so much about Roldan’s off ball work, too bad the USMNT system relies on a lot of ability on the ball. Roldan is the best Seattle player to raise up for the MNT and he’s levels behind a handful of players in the pool and in the league.

  3. I'm a Sounders fan but he doesn't play for the US like he does for Seattle if he can translate those performances to the national team I'm all for it but he just doesn't 😢

  4. You have to get lucky to make it on the USMNT. You really have to be in the right place at the right time. We have, still to this day, almost never had our best players all together at the same time, and so much of an individual's performance depends on who is on the pitch next to them. I promise, if the USMNT was firing on all cylinders with the MMA midfield, Sargent at the 9, and Pulisic at left wing, you could slot ALMOST ANYBODY in at right wing and they'll maintain the high performance level of the group. Roldan could slot in with that group and be excellent. Heck, even Jordan Morris would do well.

But we've never seen Roldan with that group. We've seen him on the pitch with Lletget, Yueill, Daryl Dike, Mathew Hoppe (Rodan assisted a Hoppe goal), Shaq Moore, Sam Vines, etc…

He's not going to be the same type of winger as Tim Weah, or Brendan Aaronson, or Gio Reyna, but he could still be very effective with the right supporting cast. I'm never going to have a problem with him being included in the USMNT, even if he's only ever the last guy at the end of the bench.

  5. It's awesome that his coach stands up for him, and Roldan is a great player for Seattle. However, he just isn't better than the other who are playing ahead of him in national team.

  6. No role. He's had 30+ chances as an attacker and has zero goals and 1 assist. He repeatedly fails the eyeball test as well in his appearances. Roldan, Lletget and Zardes wouldn't get a sniff at the national team if the USA had a coach who wasn't an MLS coach.

  7. I wonder if Brian was the National Team Manager if he would be saying the same thing. Roldan is a damn good player but if Weah,Musah, Weston and Luca were in Seattle he wouldn't be on the damn field period. Talent for talent skill for skill he's behind them
