If Manchester United captain Harry Maguire moves on, I think Napoli’s outstanding centre back Kim Min-jae could be a sensible option for Erik ten Hag to consider. This is The Case For Kim Min-jae (김민재) let me know what you think in the comments, would you like to see Kim become the second South Korean to play for Man United after Park Ji Sung?

Napoli are probably up there as one of the most in-form teams in Europe where they are unbeaten in all competitions (16 games) including the Champions League and are flying high at the top of Serie A & Kim has been a MAJOR reason for it…

When Napoli signed Kim Min-Jae centre-back signed from Fenerbahce to replace Koulibaly there was enormous pressure on him and big shoes to fill as Koulibaly was a rock for Napoli for the better part of a decade but Kim has stepped in seamlessly and the Napoli defence hasn’t missed a step.

At 6’3 he’s got a strong presence and has the physicality to deal with any aerial battle which will stand him in good stead in the PL.

For his size he is surprisingly nimble on his feet and can keep up with some of the quickest players in the league.

Kim has almost no physical weakness; speed, strength, aerial ability — he is flawless.

He’s top 5 in Serie A for:
interceptions
blocked shots
clearances
aerials won

What is even more amazing is how easy he has made it look, without any sort of adaptation period he is already one of the best defenders in Serie A, and if he carries on like this, could become one of the best in the world with his current trajectory

Arguably Kim’s best ability is his composure, whether he is one on one with an attacker or has the ball and is being pressured by an opposing player.

His ability to remain calm in tough situations is what separates him from other defenders.

On the ball, his ability to break the lines with good passes has helped change defence into attack in an instant for Napoli on various occasions.

Kim was named Serie A player of the month for September and rightly so.
Napoli won 5 out 5 games in September and only conceded 3 goals in all competitions and hasn’t conceded more than 1 in any game.

Should Manchester United try to sign Kim Min-jae? Let me know what you think in the comments…

  1. Stephen Howson. Could you take a look on Bodø Glimt players and tell me if someone catches your eye 😊the current Norwegian champions they do have very talented players their keeper is pretty amazing there and told Bodø he not extending contract. I just wanna hear your opinion.

  2. United super popular in Korea because of Park Ji Sung. Son’s dream club was United for that reason. I think if United is serious about Kim Min Jae, they have a chance to sign him. If we sign him, i have no doubt, United will probably have best Defense in the league. If you watch him playing, you will realize, he does more than a CB would do. Napoli’s wingback (usually LWB) plays like a wing, and Kim Min Jae pretty much covers the entire left side. He is one of the fastest player on the field so his recovery is super quick.

  3. It would be a mistake for Kim to join ManU when Napoli is doing so well. He should stay with Napoli. If, however, he wishes to go to EPL, he should join Liverpool; with him on board, they will have an absolutely awesome defenders. One of his best traits is his ability to pass quickly to transition to offense. He's young enough, no Korean military obligation, fast, remains calm, wins most headers, solid physique and intelligent on the field. I think one of the reasons he can defend so well is he started out as an offensive player, so he anticipates what they will do very well. Kim is definitely one of the reasons why Napoli is doing so well this year. I have to applaud Napoli's scouts because I was wondering why Tottenham Spurs and other EPL teams were not going after this guy seriously; it was obvious to me that he would do very well. You need a guy like Kim to defend against offensive players like Haaland.

  4. Kim is a physical anomaly. He is fast, agile and quick as a prime wing player. Plus he is always focused in the game every single moment during the game. Will be the called the best defender in the world soon and will always be missed at Fener.

  5. Again Kim Min Jae will not move away from Napoli, not for any transfers sales and next summer with a release presumed clause of 50 Mlns. active only for 10 Days; plus.. he wants to stay at Napoli! Forget it as all Napoli players! We are not your personal Tesco’s!

  6. Kim Min-jae was a striker in elementary school and switched to a defender in middle school, and the reason he is good at dribbling is because He used his old basic skills as it was, and since he was a former striker, he knows his weaknesses in the striker and how to hit and come in, so he shows his outstanding skills in defense. His father, a former judo player, and his mother, a track and field athlete, inherited only the strengths and speed of these two, so he was good at attacking and dealing with attackers based on his superior physical ability using fast speed in defense
No wonder he's good at defense.

  7. He’s like those rows of pawns in chess backed up by a bishop and a rook. A fucking Sicilian Defense of football. He is the real deal.

  8. 명문팀 맨유 가는것도 좋지만
    가족같은 나폴리에 남는것도 괜찮을듯
이번 SNS에 남긴 나폴리팬들의 반응보고 감동함

  9. My projection is that ManU will play Champions league next season. If so, Varane-Martinez combination is not enough. No doubt, they are strong, agile, determined, and dominant. But, you guys must play twice as many games against much more competitive teams. As such, the team needs to double the squad with world-class players. I know ManU is fearless in purchasing excellent players. Go for Kim. He always excels everyone's expectations. Sponsorships with Korean companies are complementaries, not to mention. 🙂

  10. We have lots of defenders but no one could actually step up to compete against Martinez and Varane, Kim Min-jae will be able to come in and fill up anyone's place when they are not available or even become the first choice. VVD went to Liverpool when he was 25 and he thrived under new boss. Kim can be a top world class defender under ETH. Funny enough Son recommended Kim to Spurs but they didn't go for him, spurs will just be spurs.

  11. So disgusting Utd supporters who think that Korean players are easy to get if utd target on. Utd is no more popular in Korea and Ji sung Park either. Thanks to Son, most Koreans realized how poor and pathetic Ji sung was in Utd. He was just a obedient dog who never complained despite humiliating chant about eating dog. Kim would never come to Utd, i guarantee.

  12. Agree with all points regarding Kim’s strengths. What I think is unique and makes him better than other fast & strong defenders is the fact that he has quick/short strides which allows him to twist and turn at the same tempo as the attackers, making it extra hard for the attackers to get past him.
