This is the best group of players we have had for years. White is the best right back on form & technically the best defender in the country. His link up with Saka is huge for Arsenal. Foden & Grealish barely get a look in because Southgate is defensive first. He doesn’t want a progressive full back like White, that’s the issue.
White has been the best right back in the PL for two seasons. Technically he’s on another level to Truppier & co. He is a progressive right back, often overlapping Saka with whom he had an incredible relationship. Southgate does not want a progressive full back, he is too risk adverse. Football has changed, playing out from the back is the new tactic. But not fit Southgate & Holland. It’s why Foden is a bit part player, Grealish barely plays & White is ridiculed in front of his team mates for clearly saying what everyone thinks. How this group hasn’t won anything is on Southgate’s tactics. A man who relegated a talented Middlesbrough team.
