  1. As a MUFC fan and supporter since as long as I can remember… it's painful to say I agree with @JamieCarragher.
Southgate is OGS without the tactical knowledge that Ole had.

To be fair, he (Southgate) did a magnificent job in bringing this group of players to become a team, somewhat, in the sense that they literally are a community, they stand up for each other, there's no venomous BS in the dressing room…

But as a !!!MANAGER!!!! there's no excuse for his decision making, this was, regardless of pundit etc depictions, England's for the taking, tactically he's putrid and this game was lost by us decision making.

I would still love for him to be a part of the staff, he's an amazing man manager, but as a squad/ team manager, tactically , England needs someone more tactically intelligent.

  2. I agree. I don't think England was bad, never mind disgraceful, but neither were they particularly good. I never once thought England were going to take home the trophy, but they scored a lot of goals and avoided humiliation.
Also, going out in the quarter final to France – it's about what most people predicted, so it's a bit disingenuous to complain bitterly and demand recriminations (implies you expected more than what you would have said at the start when the draw was made).
I really can't see the FA changing the manager though, and I can't think who would actually want the job. It's a step down from managing a top half premier league team, in my opinion.
I hope Rashford continues to look as motivated in a United shirt as he did for England

  3. I didn’t like subbing Saka for Sterling. I would have understood if it was Rashford coming on, but Sterling is another one of Southgate’s trusted boys and doesn’t offer any more than what Saka was already giving.

  4. Ste – You say OGS with one of the worst teams Utd have had.Who do you think had a hand in putting the team together. Another similarity, late or not existent substitutions and also had favourites..lets not rewrite history

  5. ANother Southgate masterclass. Nice chap but knows shit about tactics on the fly. Pundits givin it large about his record? who gives a fuck when we will win NOWT

  6. I thought the tournament was good until the QF's. The refereeing has been pretty good, games have been flowing and plenty of time added at the end has meant an end to timewastingprimadonas rolling around the pitch all day. However the refereeing in the QF's has been dreadful, the ARG Vs NED game was just ridiculous.

  7. Griezmann, Jude, Modric, Amrabat, Rabiot, etc have been brilliant for their teams but FIFA are seeing it differently I know them. For that reason Croatia please win the semi.

  8. Maguire wasn't perfect on the Giroud goal but he was marking 2 players initially and it was actually Stones and Rice not scanning, not marking anyone, and letting Giroud slip in behind them

  9. Looking at the body shapes of the strong French team of men, and compare them against the young twigs of young boys. Foden and Saka are going to be jostled off the ball all day long.

To only get England’s main jostler on the pitch for a few seconds at the end of the game is criminal.

  10. Rashford Disrespect is insane. He scored two goals against Wales and he has been in form this season but comes as a substitute 13 minutes before match finished.

  11. My thoughts exactly, I didn,t fancy our chances because of a poor manager , secondly I think the English team were too nice, not rough enough, France pulled every dirty trick in the book, ( as usual ) but they got through , possibly a reflection of Southgates wokey nature it seems , the REAL problem is FA , it needs a real clean out , too many old boys, nudge, nudge, clearly some of our players are coming to the end of their terms, they played well gave it their all and thats all you can ask, but I thought with a bit more luck and a few more changes we may have just scaped past to the next round , thanks guys..

  12. Everyone talking about Griezmann and Mbappe against England. But I think Giroud was the player England didn't know how to deal with. He made Englands defense look like school kinds. He was all over them and squirming through everything and getting chances when he shouldn't have. Sure Griezmann and Mbappe are the creators and such, but Giroud had some big shoes to fill in that attack(Benzima's) and he's filling it great

  13. I tried my hardest to be patient with Southgate, but yesterday was it for me. The team should’ve been pressing France from the start, but of course the team doesn’t pick up the pace until they go down 1-0. England clearly had the momentum in the second half and Saka wins the penalty which was converted by Kane to make it 1-1. Instead of taking off Henderson and bringing on Grealish, he waits until the 80th minute to bring on Mount and Sterling? 2 players who’ve been in absolutely terrible form, and one who of course just got back to the England camp. He then proceeds to wait until the 85th minute to bring on Rashford who’s been in great form, and then waits until the 98th minute to bring on Grealish when he has 2 minutes to try to help influence the match. It has to be over now for Southgate with England, if they had a manager who makes proactive decisions and doesn’t play with such negative tactics they’d be in a much better position to succeed.

  14. Rubbish. You don't change a winning team. He cant win. If he plays 5 at the back he gets shit for being too defensive. He plays a 4, and people like you , after the fact, berate him. We needed to be attacking against France. Thats what got us 2, and should have been 3 penalties. And the ref was awful. Nothing to do with the formation.

  15. Only england game I watched from this world cup. Thought Bellingham is well overrated, all I saw was whingeing and complaining to the ref. Southgate should have appointed a different penalty taker considering the Kane Lloris relationship. Englands' problem is mentality. Taking the knee political bullshit has no place in any sport, and shows their mental weakness. And being led by the epitomy of wokeness in Southgate does not help. Usual England.

  16. Got to stop building the team around Maguire. Its been like the Maguire charity show or something. The fact that he's in the side means we can't set the team up to be more attacking, play a higher defensive line and play a high press like some of these players in the squad play at their clubs and actually thrive in.

So because of Maguire, England have to sacrifice playing to the best of their abilities just for the sake of helping this guy look good so people can give him q pat on the back say well done, you aren't as shit as you look at United. Sorry but accomodating Maguire is to the detriment of England's overall play and it shows.

  17. Ole hadn't got a clue when talking about tactics…he was a counter attacking manager and when he tried to play football we lost big time on many occasions.

  18. I'm shocked that a man whose only previous managerial experience was three and a half seasons and a relegation with Middlesbrough hasn't managed to win anything for England. England definitely have top players in every position (maybe except for goalkeeper) but poor managerial appointments, a shit stirring media and pervasive outdated inward looking football philosophies has been holding them back.
