African trailblazers Morocco trained on Friday ahead of their biggest moment on the world stage -a World Cup quarter-final against Portugal at the Al Thumama Stadium.

The Atlas Lions condemned Spain to a 3-0 penalty shootout defeat to reach the last eight, during which new national star Yassine Bounou saved two spot kicks and right-back Achraf Hakimi scored the decisive penalty.

Morocco have reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history, and Walid Regragui’s men have also broken new ground for the whole Arab world as the first Arab Nation to reach the last four in a World Cup.

But Morocco do have some fitness concerns ahead of Saturday, with Nayef Aguerd taken off in tears during the victory over Spain, while captain Romain Saiss completed the game with strapping to his leg. Sofyan Amrabat also played the match while suffering with a back problem.
