Lucas Paqueta has looked a shadow of himself in his recent games for West Ham United. The Brazilian began the season impressively despite having an investigation into gambling hanging over his head. However when the Hammers needed him most Paqueta has gone missing and has been West Ham’s worst player recently. Not only has this caused the problem in the Hammers Pursuit for European football next season but it may have also hindered the players chances of a big money summer transfer to Manchester City.

  1. he clearly doesn't listen to any coaching guidance. I can't believe he's not being told to pass sooner rather than keep hold of the ball. He's defo not good enough for City, WH is about his level. Assuming DM is leaving, a new coach will hopefully re ignite him next season.

  2. Some suggestions he is not 100% fit after his recent injuries. Whatever the reason, last few games I would like to see him move wide left. Is he better centrally, yes but being wide has 2 main pros: 1) it will allow him to link up with Emerson, and more importantly 2) Kudus can move into the CAM role where he won't be wasted, will have space to run at the oppo without being crowded out immediately and can actually move the ball easier to shoot with his left foot.

There is also the con that should he try his flicks/tricks and lose the ball from the left it is less likely to do damage compared to central midfield.

Having Antonio up top and Bowen right would be quite scary, but it seems so obvious I cannot fathom why Moyes does not try this simple change.

  3. For me Pacman has gone the same way as Fornals , both excellent CM and being forced out wide as Moyes continues to play square pegs in round holes. Kudus at times yesterday was left wondering what is going on as his forward runs came to nothing as no one in front of him to pass to. I feel if we sell Pac we will be lucky to get 20mill, let alone 80, another example of Moyes devaluing a player. Moyes tactics this year have been a disaster in the making as we struggle to make any form of impact in Premier League games, hoping Sullivan sees sense and lets him go

  4. I’ve never rated him think he’s the most overrated player take the 85m from city and run he doesn’t want to be here anymore Moyes wants players who will play for the shirt not passengers

  5. I'm going to get stick for saying this but I don't get the kudus hype!! Don't get me wrong he's had some good games, but he runs with the ball and loses it a lot, think if we had a possession based manager, Paqueta, kudus would be alot better as there's a plan when we have possession not just run with the ball to gey us up the pitch

  6. I've lost patience with Paqueta.
I think he could be driving the price down; look at Anderson.
It's a game, and I think City / Pep WOULD play it… indeed I think they are.
    I'm sick of him.
    Initially he was brilliant.
    Then the play acting started.
His performances have steadily degraded; losing the ball more often than getting it back.
Against Leverkusen away he was an absolute disgrace; he was SO provocative, I thought he was trying to get himself sent off.
After his early booking he disappeared.
Losing the ball leading to the Fulham goal was the red line for me.
I'm sick to death of him.
He reminds me of Payet and Arnautovic, which for me personally, is the biggest insult I can say of any West Ham player.
We can do perfectly well without him.
He can eff off… to the bench until he decides to buck his ideas up… and not flinch from that….
Unfortunately, Sullivan will bottle it like he did with the aforementioned and take both the loss in £ and loss of face.
    😡😡😡😡

  7. Hyped and overrated , he has been Average all season , found a few one touch passes , but 85 mill , lol not on this earth , has no speed across the grass , slides in alot.

  8. It's true that Paqueta has lost his form since the injury. But he doesn't just show bad looks throughout the game. It creates a great opportunity for the forward, but it doesn't lead to a goal, which makes him more discouraged. There aren't many players to help him when he's out of pressure.

  9. I don’t see a big deal with him tbh. Maybe the negative football has finally taken its toll on him. If I was as good as him I’d have given up ages ago.

  10. The fundamental problem lies with Moyes. Having only one Phillips in the winter transfer window has been a disaster. Consider the game against Newcastle, there are not many players to use already, but the points lost due to the wrong replacement will be enormous.

  11. Paqueta is a quite brilliant footballer – one of the very best I’ve seen over there and I had a season ticket in 1986. It’s as simple as he’s fed up playing left wing and/or in a side that has won 3 PL games this year. In those 3 games against Everton, Brentford and Wolves we had – yes you’ve guessed it – less possession of the football. He’s been Moyesed, looks fed up and to be quite honest I don’t blame him. I went tile shopping yesterday rather than watch another pile of crap where we have less than 30 percent possession of the football. It’s boring garbage and I’d hate to play in it let alone a world class Brazilian flair player.

  12. You know what? I bet what’s happened to Paqueta is he’s been told Man City aren’t interested anymore and he’s moping. If that’s the case, then watch him had his best game ever against Man city last game of the season. Either that or he’ll get a red card for lashing out.

  13. Pacman has had enough of Moyes, it has been clear for months… do you remember the centre circle fall out at Burnley? As good as he is, I'd sell him in the summer to the highest bidder. Apparently there are plenty of teams interested so let's turn it into a bidding war, take the money and run

  14. In my heart I see Pacman as a mercenary. West Ham would only ever be a stepping stone to him, much like Tevez. The difference? Tevez kept going to the bitter end. Seeing Pacman be in a permanent strop since going out of Europe (because of his shit attitude at Leverkusen) it seems he thinks he's off to City. Let's face it, all the stories in the media about agreed terms with City are his agents stirring it up. I am unimpressed and secretly hope no-one comes in for him in the summer who'll meet the clause. Then we'll see if he is a man or someone chasing the dollar…. Let's face it…. the evidence so far isn't good. perhaps the betting allegations aren't that far off the mark after all?

  15. I am getting worried. It seems the potential new managers are turning the position down. I hope sullivan is not put in a position where he gives moyes a new contract.

  16. What do you expect? It's like dating a stunning, funny, up for anything, sex addict, and then taking her to Greggs for lunch day after day, before going home for an Ovalitine whilst watching the One Show. Pep will get a proper tune out of him.

  17. Based on the last few months, going missing in big games, sloppy passing, throwing himself to the floor, hot headed ie the booking leading to missing Leverkusen, I'm not convinced any more that City would want him. Esp not at £85m plus. If they do, they will try and force the price down now. Can't believe I'm saying this….he is a wonderful player on his day, but can we afford a player like him who we can't rely on. Perhaps we should sell and look through Steiden at investing wisely 2 good replacements ie Kudus quality and price to help squad depth

  18. Ita nit tye players fault here. Its the style of play and tactics. Its pointless buying attacking minded players and then playing this defensive type of football. Change at the top reqired and we need to bring someone in who cn use these players in a way to gwt the best from them

  19. Couldn't agree more with Dad's comments. He took the words out of my mouth. The only way of handling this situation is to drop the player from the Team and the Bench and to play Earthy in his place. That way Paqueta has no platform on which to show boat his antics and run around sulking with his thumb in his mouth. Also it would send a powrful message to Man City that this guy is a real managerial problem. We shouldn't tolerate such petulance, especially when we're paying him a fortune. Get tough Moyes!!
