Newcastle manager Eddie Howe spoke today ahead of their match with Sheffield United, where he spoke about the future of Bruno Guimaraes.

Earlier this week The Telegraph reported Arsenal and Man City are considering a summer move for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes – and now Fabrizio Romano has posted on social media the Brazilian has a month-long £100m release clause.

The clause only lasts a month – between the last week of May and last week of June – so the Premier League title rivals will have to move fast.

It raises the prospect of Arsenal and City going head-to-head for a top midfield target again after Arsenal won the race to sign Declan Rice for £105m last summer.

The Telegraph claim that Guimaraes is aware of the interest. PSG are also said to be admirers of the Brazil international.

  1. We must keep Bruno. He’s our best player. Let’s sell the likes of Almiron, Wilson and the deadwood like Dummet, Ritchie and all the guys on loan. This should easily raise £50-£60 million which would help us with the FFP rules. We also have some Champions League and Premier League money to spend too so I can see us doing good business this summer. We obviously need to replace Ashworth too though.

  2. If he chooses to leave 100m will be a huge boost and allow us to push on. Look what villa and West Ham have done after selling 100m assets

  3. We can’t keep buying young players there’s good players in their mid 20s that Eddie can improve or some older players with experience.

  4. Makes me laugh saying he's in form, Bruno needs to watch the commitment of Hughes in the Palace game. Bruno can't boss a midtable team's midfield. Howe is looking increasingly more inept.

  5. be gutted to lose him but if we manage to get 100m and it is sorted early in the window, it's not the end of he world and is great business – gonna happen over the next few years as we slowly grow into a bigger club – just have to reinvest that money smartly

  6. Shouldn't be selling any top players . Sell Longstaff, Almiron,Murphy and any fringe players. With Tino, Hall ,Anderson, MIley a year older. Toneli availible again,a fit Barnes,Joelinton, Wilson ,Willock, Botman and pope. Sign a CDM will be challenging top 4 again.

  7. Hes just spent 4 million on a house in Newcastle, he's not going no where. He loves it up here and the fans love him it's a very safe city to bring his kids up in as well and he know all of this, he's not going anywhere anytime soon

  8. We have dangerous players – Dan burn , lascelles , Matt Targette , shortstaff, Murphy , Wilson , Kraft , Paul dumette and Matt Ritchie.

  9. What about if we get £100m for Bruno and get Paqueta in? Tonali to come back also. Not the end of the world but I hope he doesn’t ditch us and we can keep him but ultimately it’s Bruno who holds all the cards in this matter and he was the one who pushed for the release clause in the first instance.

  10. He will be thinking about champions league and playing to win silverware can Newcastle match that ambition he should give them one more season but if we come in for him again ie Liverpool he needs to come

  11. I still have my stickers on & I use gnocchi in a meal I make on a regular basis & I air fry mine in the pot for the length of time it says on the packet then air fry the cheese on top for 2-3 mins depending on how brown I want the cheese. So maybe try air fry next time susannah 😊
