On Mandas:
1. He makes mistakes, but he has not really be punished for them yet, and when he makes one, he does his best to clean it up. And his best is obviously lacking some experience, but you can see his football intelligence at work. He is not just rushing around like a headless chicken. Also, a few weeks ago his clearances were into the stands every other time, now they are crisp and perfect. He must be training 10h a day or something??
2. In the derby, which was his debut, I would almost say rewatch the game, and then watch how Patric is with Mandas.
The after seeing that, try telling me Patric should not be captain.

We have for too long gone with the idea that the captain is the starter with the most games. Instead of the best leader.
Patric has grown up, and we got Romagnoli, who was good enough to captain Milan years ago (think about how young he was, when he became captain). We have a bandieri in Cataldi, who also works as a leader. And with this new system Patric og Gila are starting every game they can. Just look at how the play together. I cannot be many games before we see a Patric/Gila assist to a Patric/Gila goal. Romagnoli might need until the start of next season to adjust, and Casale can take over when needed, but Gila (if Real does not pay 40-50mil for him) and Patric are guaranteed to start every game from the start of next season at the latest.
Marusic seems to me more like Radu. Less talking with the mouth, and more with the feet. Maybe I am misjudging him, but he to me is just this kind of shut-up-and-work-harder type of person and player (which is something I really appreciate as well).
We have to make a serious decision about the future. And I think we need to rethink the captaincy. To me the leaders are Provedel (mandatory goalkeeper, but should not be captain), Patric, Romagnoli and Cataldi. Possibly Marusic, I did not think much about it, but he is not an obvious leader to me.
Marusic's contract also ends in 2025, he is not becoming captain without an extension, and I am still unsure about if Lazio or he wants to extend. He will be 32… For a wingback… Sure, we can give him a 3+1 year contract, but then we might just have another Ciro Immobile/Luis Alberto situation, where we are paying good money for someone to sit on the bench, and at the same time be captain.
I would argue Patric should be captain, Romagnoli should be number two, Cataldi three, and Provedel four. New era, new leaders. However, if Marusic is staying for longer than 2025, then we need to talk with him about captaincy, because he has to at least be allowed to make his case for him having the armband. And if he can make the case, then it is his. Lazzari has also has both a lot of experience and a few Lazio games, but I also do not really see him as a natural leader. Patric, Romagnoli and Cataldi add something extra in this role, where Marusic and Lazzari might just be distracted from leading games with their feet.
