  1. Pep beat himself by playing it too safe. It was the same it’s been all season “let’s give the ball to our cb’s and hope and pray holes open up”
Imagine having a 6’5 striker that’s faster than 95% of cbs and telling him to stand still and wait for a rebound or just draw defenders. The mistake is that they always try to find haaland when the opposition is already in position defensively….just pass the ball to him. He’ll get it

  2. 😂😂😂
anyone noticed how Ancelloti tactic board looks clean and neat and he just dragged the one dart straight up the board to the opposition post.

contrast that to peps, looks quite complicated and clumsy and takes so much zest to explain it.

Moral lesson being when you are on an ancelloti team, ditch the complex tactical jargons and depend on your intuition and personal abilities, keep it simple(after all being a player in a team called galaticos puts you on a different level right from the get go).

  3. It seems that whenever an Italian team sits deep in defense, it's "the same old catenaccio" or an "Italian job"; whereas if that is made by Real Madrid, it's a "show of resilience". City go out of the Champions League without losing a single game in the competition and after dominating Real once again. Sports, especially football, are also about luck

  4. Let’s be honest here. City’s xg was way higher than madrids and there was no real masterclass to be seen. City was poor for conceding that goal and was poor in front of goal. Real took better penalties, that’s it.

  5. Pep did wonders looking at how his team plays football. It's unbelievable from ancceloti's side how they defend and stay control under city high level intense press.
City should've won in the game if they correct some small details in the final end. As well, Madrid might have scored more than one goal if they keep a bit of possession like in the first 20mins throughout the match. I understand city didn't let them do that.

  6. if we just consider tactics, we should consider 120 mins excluded penalty. First I want to say in 120 mins, they have a draw. At the beginning Real Madrid counter attack well, but later Man City slaughter their counter attack. What the manager needs to do is to create more chances and more expected goals, cause football is a game of possibility. And in these two matches, Man City is the one who have more expected goals. So I believe Pep deserved one point higher than Ancelotti.

  7. Real Madrid did the Italian Job on Manchester City. The game was fine margins for both teams. Heartbreak for City fans and elation for Madrid supporters. City will try again next year and need to be more lethnal in front of goal!

  8. Real madrid are lethal in attack, but now they proved they can be lethal in defending too.
Implying they are highly versatile , which is a crucial quality needed in any sport.

This is not the first time to predict that city are the favorites to win; 2022 is another example where city had 99% win probability until 90 mins mark.
So, its absurd to claim real Madrid had a lucky win, rather than saying its was a strategic gameplay.

    #Halamadrid

  9. I think the thing is Madrid players are willing to do anything to get the win, without complaining, even if it includes running during the whole game, or giving the back to their identity and have 11 players inside the box

  10. Papa Carlo laid it all out plainly: the opening match saw both teams scoring unlikely goals, resulting in a defensive-free clash, especially surprising on Spanish soil. Fortunately, it ended in a 3:3 draw. Similar to last year, Real was penalized for their open style of play.

In contrast, yesterday’s game was a cautious affair from the start. Why risk an aggressive strategy only to potentially concede 2-3 goals to City by the 30th minute? Such a scenario would have been perfect for Pep, but he was denied that pleasure. A defensive approach was planned from the outset, and a quick goal scored early validated this strategy.
With a quiet but solid defense, leading the score, and the occasional counterattack. Walker dominated Viney, showcasing why he might be the best full-back currently, that's why counter attacks were not seen from RM. Meanwhile, Rodrigo capitalized on a key opportunity.

Real maintained a low profile, while City, despite their sophistication, managed only one goal following Rudy's error. All their intricate passing and numerous corners yielded no significant results.
The questions are straightforward: either defeat Real Madrid and move to the semi-finals, or fail to do so and see Real advance. Lunin also deserves praise for his exceptional performance yesterday.

The game unfolded clearly, fairly, and naturally.
City pushed the pace to the max, but Real kept up.

  11. I praise ancelotti for whatever he told nacho and rudigger to do, and rudiger and nacho for doing it well

Haaland was nowhere to be seen.

  12. I also marvel at how well ancelotti and his players keep calm when playing out of possession. Not touching the ball all game is one of the most frustrating things for most players. To stay that alert in defense and that precise 9n the counter attack as a team is something that goes overlooked in ancelotti as a manager. I've seen few teams absorb pressure so well

  13. contradict to everyone's though of Ancelotti just relax and let Madrid players cope on their own, I think that this man really went serious. Pep's City is really a beast that he cannot let the team stand the ground or just give ground and endure, he needs a plan to cut the beast's heart. Man City actually has a drawback, I won't say it as a weakness since it only is inferior to other features, they are not very good dealing with teams who has players that can handle aerial duels with comfort. To do that, that player must be smart to know how to cleverly shield the ball from the coming defender and pivot, and we are talking about Walker, Dias, Rodri, that player must be something, and he must be very strong and big to hold the defenders off before knocking tha ball for the coming runner for a quick counter.

Rewind a bit and we can remember Inter Milan did that move very well, the same went to Tottenham when they had Kane, Brentford when they have Ivan Toney, and somewhat Newcastle United at the first matchdays of 22/23. Bellingham's ridiculous move was the pivotal moment to Rodrygo's goal. He held the long ball with both skill and his strong stature , letting the ball fall off his body a bit so that he can have some space passing it to Valverde, and that's history bros.

  14. Ancelloti tactics: defend with 10 defenders and hail mary passes to rodrygo and vini lol. Madrid had no tactics, they just hoped to make it alive to penalties. luck was on their side like always

  15. I personally don't think Bayern is going to win the semi final against Real Madrid. Although they've done better in the second half of the season, they've had quite a few issues at the club which shows in the Bundesliga. Would love to be proven wrong tho

  16. I dont believe Carlo did anything special. He did what a crystal palace does … just with a galactico squad… and City misfiring. We were destroying them. But football… what matters is goals… which we could not convert.. cause we created a lot. This is why we love football

  17. This has been happening since his Barca days.
Dominating the game doesn't mean he will win it.
I think it is not fair to Ancelotti to be given a lower rating than Guardiola. Afterall Ancelotti is the one who had to play without his main central defenders pairing, without his main goalkeeper, and his main defensive midfielder. And yet he adapted and came out on top.
It should be the other way around
7.5 to ancelotti and 6.5 to guardiola

  18. Madrid are LUCKY that Man city were not clinical with their shooting!! Man city had 18 shots. This doesn’t mean Man city deserved to go through because at the knockout stages of Champions mistakes will cost you.

  19. I don't understand why Ancelotti beat Pep, it went to penalties, there may be a tactic for penalties but it all comes to luck and nerves. I think both tactics worked, 2 tie games.
