Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane believes Arsenal fans have a ‘soft respect’ for him after coming back to haunt the Gunners by scoring a penalty in the thrilling 2-2 draw in their Champions League quarter final, first leg at the Emirates.

TIMESTAMPS:

0:00 Intro

0:01 We knew it was going to be difficult. They are top of the Premier League for a reason.

0:20 I always seem to get a penalty here at the Emirates. I’m happy to contribute to the team.

0:44 It’s been a disappointing season in the Bundesliga, Leverkusen are undefeated you have to give them credit and respect. The return leg will be very different with our fans.

1:30 It’s a competition we want to win, especially given we will not win the Bundesliga this year. We have to find togetherness. In the Champions League we’ve done well but we’ll need more than that if we want to go further.

2:09 We’ve got a lot of experience in our team. You have to lean on that and so that on the pitch. Sometimes you have to dig deep. We go to the Allianz now with a full crowd, amazing atmosphere and the aim is to get through.

2:44 It was hard with no fans but we dealt with that well. The fans will be more excited next week. Hopefully we can use that energy to our advantage.

3:09 Yellow card? I was surprised. There were 50/50s all game but he gave that one as a foul. Decisions sometimes go your way. Arsenal had a decision at the end that was 50/50. We had a clear penalty when the goalkeeper passed the ball to Gabriel and he picked the ball up. It was a stonewall penalty.

3:53 I’m my own biggest critic. I always try to improve and better myself. The season hasn’t gone as expected but I’ve been scoring goals but there’s times this year where I can be better, hopefully I can show that now until the end of the season.

4:30 Runners up five years ago? That campaign with Spurs was quite similar in that we weren’t having a great time in the league that year but we managed to get to the final. That experience gives me hope that I can perform in the big games and it gives us belief going into next week. Final being at Wembley is extra motivation for me personally.

5:19 I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany. It was a step that I needed in my career. I’m really happy that I made the move. Of course I know how big the Premier League is but my future is at Bayern Munich, I have a four-year contract. Hopefully we can make something special happen this season.

6:00 Arsenal fans have a soft respect for me! I just try to perform. I seem to get quite a few penalties here at the Emirates. It will be nice next week to be at home with the Munich fans.

6:27 Arsenal were good last year, they just fell short. It will be tough to win the Premier League.

  1. Can see us beating them at the Allianz, rival fans are getting cocky too early it's 2-2, arsenal dominated the ball and are unlikely to make such defensive errors again based on their defensive form this year. It's level with 90 minutes to play and now Bayern's only way of trying to break us down has been exposed in Sane, coaching staff will iron that out in the second leg, aside from that Bayern really didn't pose much of a threat.

  2. As an Arsenal fan, I agree we do have a soft respect for Harry Kane. As a football fan, he is top class striker. We still want to beat Bayern in the second leg and stick it to him.

  3. Arsenal fans crying about the softest elbow in the world, meanwhile Havertz escapes a yellow for the worst dive in CL history that would rule him out of the second tie

  4. It’s also a “stonewall” penalty every time a defender holds an attacker from a corner, or wipes out an attacker after they’ve shot and a yellow card every time a player encroaches to block a quick free-kick… but they are never given either

  5. This is one guy you can't dislike, regardless of which team you follow. I'm a Newcastle united fan. .
He's proper grounded and I wish him well. I hope he wins trophies his talent deserves. ❤

  6. Basically He scores a gifted goal but otherwise totally invisible in the game. They would be going back goalless if we didn’t gift goals to them.

  7. As an Arsenal fan, i like this guy. Great attitude. Hope he wins a trophy next year at Bayern. Not this one.
Also waiting to see him don the Arsenal jersey as a pundint after some years, like Michah richards.

  8. Now he is no longer a Spurs player (although never forgotten) I will say he is a great striker with such an ability to link play with a superb pass on him. Possibly duty bound to speak with him being English and his history here in the Premier League but he always seems to make time and take time when talking to the media.

  9. He is much more likeable now that he plays for Bayern and not the Shits, seems like a good lad 😎
