two logical reasons behind his reaction that I felt plausible:
1. His brain must have thought the goal post bar was left, not right. Which will initiate a sudden reflex to not let the ball outside of the post. rather take it and shoot. the opposite team's defender must have confirmed his decision as he leans first to take the ball. also look how he walked diagonal from left corner to right.(but soon he realises his mistake)
2. Or he might have messed up thinking he was defending the team, considering he was deep in the goal. But as he's a forward, there are less chances of brain messing up it like that. If he was a defender, this is highly likely given they have to take decisions in milliseconds
