Darwin Nunez has sent a message to Liverpool supporters after contributing to the team’s rise to the summit of the Premier League standings.
The Reds secured a 2-1 victory over Brighton on Sunday courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz. This win marked Liverpool’s return to action following the international break, setting the stage for an intense conclusion to the title race.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s goalless draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium provided Liverpool with a boost in their pursuit of the title. Currently, Jurgen Klopp’s side sits two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table with nine matches remaining.
Manchester City trails the Reds by three points, and with no head-to-head matchups left between the title contenders this season. Although Nunez didn’t find the net against Brighton, he delivered an impressive performance.
Shortly after the final whistle and the conclusion of the Man City-Arsenal stalemate, the Liverpool striker took to social media to express his thoughts. “Good win at home,” Nunez wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, accompanied by several photos from the game and a heart emoji.
Nunez has been prolific for Liverpool this season, tallying 17 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. He will aim to add to his goal count as Liverpool returns to Premier League action in the coming days.
Liverpool is scheduled to host Sheffield United at Anfield midweek before facing Manchester United at Old Trafford next weekend. Meanwhile, Arsenal will entertain Luton Town on Wednesday, and Manchester City will clash with Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on the same evening.
