Dunno why people keep goin on about Rice playing forward for Arsenal. Its a different team, different manager, different style of play. Hes the 'only' option as the holding midfielder (you could have Mainoo in there and they could switch between them but Gareth wont have that and probably wont have Mainoo in the squad). He will definitely want 1 player sitting, and you need at least 1 if Maguire is playing, so Rice can forget about making runs up the field. Bellingham will be doing that. Then its just a case of finding balance between the 2 of those….again Mainoo is the obvious one but numpty will bring Philips before him I think. 99% sure he starts Henderson. I'm sure Gallagher could do a good job there, different to what he does at Chelsea but he seems like he would sacrifice for the team and do the running. If Trent had been playing there more….but not sure Gareth would trust him….Personally I would play John Stones as the holding midfielder with Rice and Bellingham.
Jermaine pennant is a clown simple Henderson is far better than he will ever be as a footballer and a player and he’s captained his country and the biggest English club in the world and won everything

People want England to play at the European style of highest level. In order do this england need a deep lying play maker.
The greatest international and club teams all have a Rodri or a busquets style player. Germany have Kroos, Spain have rodri, and so on. Italy use to have pirlo.
You need a Conventional game runner in CDM.
No strictly deep lying CDMs.
The FA will tell you Southgate is doing an amazing job, for them.
God himself could be England manager, England centre forward and an holding England midfielder – all at the same time, England will still not win the Euros. English expectations in the past have weighed the team down in previous tournaments. This time English expectations this time around are on steroids.

If you have a top football player that has great control of a football and is fit as a fiddle playing as a 10 or 8, they could easily drop to a 6 and fill in and do a top job. Top coaches would make a world class 10 ve a world class 6 or 8 too, but southgate doesn't know the positions.
Cundy could be the worst pundit, the information he relays on such a huge platform is always complacent. He has a loser mentality and a big mouth to follow.
