  1. England can't possibly win with such a lack of world class defenders,we couldn't even win it in England and once again will be exposed by the likes of France and several others

  2. From what I see it’s not the English fans that are expecting England to win, far from it. It’s the stupid media pundits who are over hyping it to excess. The mood I see amongst friends etc is very downbeat and with Southgate some even offer we have no chance. But Ally is a typical anti English Scot and would hate it if they did.

  3. "in their camp they can expect to win it, why can't they"
Because that's very stupid. They'd have a much better chance if they expect nothing and therefore nothing to lose. There's so much stupidity surrounding English media I've given up and don't care if we win or lose, actually I kinda hope we lose so we can call these pundits idiots and laugh at them endlessly.

  4. Who says they "expect" England to win? Who are you talking about here? I don't think the fans expect any such thing, I certainly don't. The media keep banging on about it. You just invent your own narratives.

  5. Those who say England will win are deluded. They have amnesia of how England play against the top teams and that England have yet to get past a QFs at a Euros held overseas.

It’s not an accident England have never won a major tournament since 1966 and that was held where all the games were played at Wembley, before VAR and before penalties decided games.

  6. The Bookies have made England favourites for the Euros, the Bookies have said blah, blah, blah.
    Which Bookies exactly, Andy Townsend?
The German, Italian, French, Spanish Bookies??
No, it's the English Bookies…………………and of course their opinion counts above every other nation's bookies.

Just typical!! This is the English arrogance the critics refer to. Just like every half-baked English player is always
    'World Class", etc, etc!!

When will the English media and fans ever learn?

  7. Defensively not good enough and if SG decides to sit back like he has historically they wont win thr euros. Not sure they have what it takes in the pressure games to get over the line

  8. England have talented group of players at the moment, but we've had talented groups before. The big historical question is "can we do it when it matters?" "are we brave enough to take risks in key moments to take the initiative from the opposition ?"
Apart from the 66 triumph in major tournaments the answer is no. Too often in big matches we seem too passive, too fearful, being reactive rather than proactive.
Apart from the Paul Gascoigne factor in 1990 where we were genuinely unlucky in the world semis and the euro semis in 96 .England have been too cautious and not brave enough to win the big trophies. Can England overcome our its psychological baggage of caution ? the jury's still out

  9. We're only the favourites for English bookies. We're probably 3 favourites behind France and Germany, if you were to ask people in the street.
