-TIMESTAMPS-
00:00 Latest squad news? Hendo not 90 mins, Cole possibly, Jude absolutely can play 90 mins, he had cramp and missed a lot of football, everyone else has come through training
00:50 (Rice) ahead of 50th cap: I’ve grown so much as a person, I was nervous when I first came in and I’ve played more games at a higher level and grown into it, 50 caps is a pinch me moment
01:40 Do you feel how important you are and do you worry about burnout? Not at all, I absolutely love it, player a lot of games in first few years at West Ham, absolute honour to play for Arsenal and England, hopefully I have a long list of trophies to follow
02:50 Ivan will be involved in the game for sure, the plan for the week is a bit different and we’re finding out about more players
03:24 Brazil tactics on Bellingham? I think Gallagher got fouled as many times as anybody, we could have ended up playing against ten but better exercise to play against 11
04:10 have you gone to another level this season? I think I’ve played consistently well throughout the season, position has changed a lot since West Ham but still so much room for improvement and things I can get better at, enjoying the six and the eight
04:58 Rice will be captain, he’s here and it’s his out cap, a brilliant opportunity for some of your young players to show leadership now
05:50 Your reaction Declan? Speechless to be honest, when he said to me last night I hugged him and shook his hand, I owe him a lot, on my 50th cap to walk out as England captain will be an absolute honour
06:35 Alzheimer’s society support? It’s something we all have to deal with, increasing reality of life that it effects us all in one way or another, great to raise awareness
08:05 Injury problems cause? We have to take best possible decisions with players available, can’t worry about what we haven’t got, it’s an incredible number unavailable to us.
09:12 Our plan is still to give players time to recover in the summer
10:03 Important for fans at Wembley to stay with the team tomorrow? I think they did against Brazil, recognised we were playing well and had young players on pitch.
11:10 Did the paper plans bother you? I saw some after ten mins! I’m not a big paper plane man, we’ve had that throughout and doesn’t always reflect the game
11:46 Lack of number sixes and Rice playing as an eight? It’s brilliant for him, he’s a good finisher and we’ve seen that in training.
13:03 (Rice) challenges of playing both roles? So different roles at Arsenal, sometimes I’ve been the highest man up the pitch which is unnatural to me, think my strongest position is six, every time he says I’m gonna play eight I’m really excited
13:54 What have you learned at Arsenal which you can take into England? The way our manager wants his sixes to play, look how Rodri plays, a lot of the play comes through me and the more I’ve played under Mikel I’ve gained that confidence
14:45 First we had to convince Declan it would be a good decision to play for England and that was borne out with some of the big games he’s played, almost all of the games he played then were the biggest games of his life, now he’s been involved in a lot.
16:31 leadership potential when you first saw him? No question, you get a feel for a person and with Dec you could sense that stability and maturity, already gained good experiences and I’m pushing him, young lads entitled to boss around older ones.
17:42 England closer now than they ever have been to winning a tournament? Talk of the town before every tournament, if you look at players we have now everyone playing really well and I think we’re close now, we have major winners in the team
18:57 Disappointed with final ball and set pieces against Brazil? It’s something we have looked at a lot over the winter because we haven’t been delivering the same numbers.

Great to hear Declan Rice's insight into how Mikel Arteta likes to utilises him in the different No.6 and No.8 roles at Arsenal. He really is a special player 🌟
he played 90 freaking minutes against brazil and now hes playing against belgium before we play city. these international friendlies drive me crazy
Yes he deserved it ❤
Take him off at halftime and give this lad a little rest…he is the best No.6 in the world
Couldn’t hate Gareth any more really.
This guy (Rice) loves any place he in either westham, Arsenal or the national team … you can ganually see this in his expression.
Dirty 🐍😡
Shame on Southgate playing him for 90 mins if we lose to city its on him
Gallagher again ohhhh fuck coach.
Rice baby 🔥 injury free please 🙏🏾
This isn't fair at all. You played him 90 minutes against Brazil the same thing he did to Saka last season during the qualifiers. He made sure he burned Saka out
I love Declan Rice. He is such a great person and football player. Looking forward to see him become Arsenal's Captain and Legend ❤
Great for Declan, but what if he gets injured? This manager is putting our team at risk. He played the full match against Brazil.
He should have been Captain for England a long time ago, he is a brilliant player and leader. Just bring him back safe and sound, he is very important to Arsenal.
Bravo Decs ❤🎉. Let's just hope he plays only 45 minutes.
From Maguire to Declan Rice. Southgate is probably wary that Rice might follow the footsteps of Ben White to reject England. A meaningless friendly that might ruin Declan Rice season for the last 10 games for the Arsenal. When one hears heaps of praises for Rice from Gareth Southgate, usually nothing good comes out of it. I would rather Southgate praises Maguire and rest Rice. 🙏
Great, so he's playing another 95 minutes in another pointless friendly
Thank you hayter for all the content on england ❤ love it
Tells you a lot when mikel is so pivotal even in eng pressers…love it!
He'll play rice for 90mins while resting foden and walker with his 'injury'
Not a surprise at all. He is captain material 100%
should be captain full-time
Southgate trying to make sure Arsenal don't win the league 😢
Declan, Declan, Declan! How many times did I call you? I will fog you o? Why will you be putting yourself out to play every game for 90 mins? We have the most important game of our Club in 20 years on Sunday against City and if anything happens to you, Gareth won't find it funny. Congratulations though
Why is Henderson even getting mentioned. Southgate has won fuck all as manager, is there any standard to even getting that job. Semi's and a final don't count when you win nothing
It’s a friendly, Rice is a very important player for his club. He played last game and it’s about time to rest him.
I couldn’t be happier for Dec but I really hope he only plays 45
Second best 6 in the world after Rodri
Paper planes? What are they talking about.
Why is he playing Rice after using him for full 90 freaking minutes 😮😡 knowing we have one of the toughest fixtures left 😳🤬🤬🤨
Rice has looked like a captain right from the start. I expect him to be Arsenal captain soon, and he could also lead England.
Great news
Legs gonna turn jelly let him rest
I wonder if he would have felt “speechless” captaining Ireland as well? Nothing but respect for Rice as a player and he seems like a good person. But he did Ireland dirty in the manner in which he used them as a stepping stone. I get it, he was born and raised in England and he took advantage of legal FIFA rules. But that’s the one thing about him I don’t respect.
Southgate~ It's important to ruin these players dreams and all of england fans ofc we will lose at quarter final at max because we are so fcking good ROFL.
Hindu man became prime minister of England and Irish boy became a England capitan, what a cruel life irony
