“Respect” is the wrong word! I can accept it, but I’ll never respect it!
He's not rejecting england, he's rejecting working with southgate and holland.
Ben is a wise man, it's like knowing you'll be a bench seat warmer for like 90% of your national duty. No thank you, that's not only disrespectful to Ben but embarrassing. Big up Ben my son!!!

As an Arsenal fan..I don’t agree with his decision simply because he had an issue with possible limited playing time. I also don’t agree with Southgate always picking his favourites despite form. But being called upon for your country should be a proud moment.
Personally, I don’t think he should be allowed back even under a new manager. You either make yourself available for the national team if called upon..or if you choose not to play then you can’t come back! And this is the second time he’s done this..and disgraceful to do it during a World Cup campaign when he couldn’t be replaced!

They still won't stop talking about it but at least it isn't bordering on harassment anymore. The lack of tact and unwillingness to move on and be actual "journalists" has been embarrassing. They keep throwing around terms like "disgust" while embodying all that is disgusting about the world of sports media/"journalism". Move on.
Would Ray Parlour have kept the same energy if it was, for instance, a Man United or Liverpool player who declined a call-up?

How is this even a story? He's not turned his back on his country.. he's his own man and he's got his family and his self to think about. More should actually follow his lead and spend their time on this that make them feel fulfilled! I've seen less news about uk born players that have decided to play for other countries. Leave the bloke alone, he owes no one nothing
