Thank god we won the World Cup but I believe in hindsight we would’ve destroyed Saudi if we played Mac Allister or Enzo ahead of Lautaro, and played a front 3 of Di Maria-Papu-Messi.
The problem was that we tried to utilize Papu as an 8/LW when he is neither, he is a false 9, so he served no purpose in that game.
There’s a reason why Scaloni picked Lo Celso ahead of Papu despite his world-class level in Serie A, although I believe Papu is better than Lautaro.
