  1. Another great video guys ! If Biello wants to make a strong case for taking the permanent head coaching position I think he needs to make some bold decisions rather than just more of the same personnel choices. Like a lot of fans I think it's time for Crepeau to become the new number one in goal. I thank Borjan for all he's done for the programme but it's time to prepare for 26 and beyond by giving younger players their chance and Crepeau is long overdue for the starting job in my opinion. I don't know how but I want to see Johnston and Laryea on the field at the same time. Richie is a free kick generating machine for Canada and his speed is needed against a fast Trinidad team. For a one off game Vittoria because of his height in set pieces would be my choice over Cornelius. Other than that I agree with club selection. One other thought. It's so sad that Mark Anthony Kayes's career for the national team imploded. Neither of you even mentioned his name and a few years ago he was a lock for the team. The lack of depth in midfield and central defence continues to be a problem. Cheers ! Go Canada Go !

  2. "Crucial" is an understatement… This match is of Biblical proportions… If we lose this game, this will set back all the momentum that's survived Canada Soccer's self-sabotage of trying to "grow the f'ing game" in this country by backstabbing everybody in the process with shady deals… This match is everthing, even Canada Soccer's outcome at the 2026 World Cup will be decided by this game. Because if we don't get into Copa America, we're not playing crucial, critical, competitive games to prepare us for what we're going up against at the World Cup, that we are hosting in 2026. Time is of the essence. It's time to unfuck ourselves and just win by any means even if we have to put boots to their bloody heads- we have to do anything to win this game against Trinidad. Anything. And defend our goal with your life.

  3. Personally, I'd be surprised if we don't see the same 4-2-3-1 formation (switching to 4-4-2 in defense) that has been the norm since the World Cup education Canada was given. I agree that it's the right time for Crepeau to start, but I'd still start Vitoria, at least for 45 mins. I understand that young people see anyone of his age as ancient and ridiculous, but we've seen a lot of alternates step in and nobody performed anywhere near what Vitoria brings in that role. That's a fact.

I think you have to start both Laryea and Johnston, and I think Davies and Buchanan need to be on opposite sides of the field. I also want to see Hoilett sitting behind David, providing short service to him. Again, some will say Hoilett is ancient. I can't understand how we'd look at his performance at the World Cup against some of the best in the world and think he is not highly capable, at least for 60 mins. And we need someone to link up with David's world class movement off the ball. We're just not getting enough out of David right now. I think Hoilett is key here.

    For me, this is the ideal starting lineup, aiming to bring Larin in after 60 or 70 mins for Hoilett, putting Larin up front and dropping David back behind him;

    David
    Davies. Hoilett. Buchanan
    Kone. Eustaquio
    Laryea, Miller, Vitoria, Johnston

  4. Club form really only goes so far. And it's not about form vs past performance . It's about form vs familiarity with the squad. It's tough with national teams to be expected to have a good understanding when they just come in for a few days and have to perform together. That's why turnover on national teams can be so slow, especially when a country has a poor/inconsistent youth development program, which we all know has been the case in Canada. I'd guess the reason someone like Ugbo fell out of favor is simply because he wasn't clicking with the group. If/when that happens it's a really, really big deal. No amount of performance at the club level can negate that, except perhaps for the most elite players, and even then, only if they are able to do things all on their own. Even then, opponents can often shut down a single player, which we've seen with Davies.

  5. Is Alphonso Davies healthy? He came back as a substitute on Friday for Bayern, but it's clear he is not 100%. Naturally, even at less than 100% he's a force to be reckoned with, but it is a question as to what level he is at currently.

  6. Boy, you guys better start looking under some other rocks to find more imports because your squad sucks. You'll definitely lose to Trinidad & Tobago and miss out on Copa America. Looks like your honeymoon was short-lived and you have reverted back to your irrelevant reality.

  7. got to go with vets on the backline…. cant have cornelius and waterman in this one and done game… they can play later but lets get into the copa first

  8. Gk:?

    Cb: Derek Cornelius
    Cb: Daniel Nimick
    Cb: Alistair Johnston

    Lwb: Alphonso Davies
    Cm: Moise Bombito?
    Cm: Stephen Eustaquio
    Cm: Ismael Kone
    Rwb: Tajon Buchanan

    St: Jonathan David
    St: Cyle Larin

  9. if you ask me, Crepeau has better leadership qualities than Borjan does. We should be tending towards a new mentality, new tactics, and Crepeau has that. If we recall both GK's standout moments recently, Crepeau has returned from a title saving tackle which snapped his leg, reckless, but selfless. Borjan's is his keepie uppies against Jamaica, cocky and arrogant. At this point I can only expect that the "Old guard" will play until they're over 60, but I'd reaaaally hope that a new group will come in sooner, just so the younger guys can develop. (If you ask me, the young guys at the Gold cup were more convincing and WCQ-esque than the squad that showed up at the friendlies and the Nation's league.)

  10. I think there needs to be someone else on onesoccer who has a different opinion from everyone else. These two seem to share the same brain.

  11. None of the candidates for Vitorias spot are good enough to play in the Portuguese league, yet according to these two, they're all better than him. Doesn't make sense to me.
