We do this every two years. Wait until the end of the season. It’s punishing as it is and there will be too many unforeseen injuries to come.
Like England fans develop amnesia after the last tournament they got knocked out. And the media don’t help with driving the hype.
Unless England play higher up the pitch and play shorter passes and press the opposition in their third and penalty area then it’ll end the match the same again in the QFs or even SFs.
Remember no England team has yet to reach a final of a major tournament overseas since they entered the WC in 1950. That is the burden Southgate’s England and every future England team has to overcome. It’s not an accident that this has happened in over 70 years of playing international tournament football.
All these players like Foden look great when playing alongside their foreign team mates and managed by their foreign managers because of they cover up their technical and tactical deficiencies when it comes to highly pressured knockout football.

Most important positions at international level are the 'spine' – GK, CB, CM. Only Bellingham is world class of those positions. Having good wide players means nothing if we cant keep possession and defend well.

The fact Ben white probably won’t go just shows Southgate isn’t prepared to make the right decision and isn’t the man for the job anymore.
White could cover CB alongside stones and evenRB, he’s fit, he’s on form and he has the understanding with Saka.
Henderson, Phillips and mount shouldn’t even be part of the conversation right now.

To say Foden is a winger is an oversimplification – even if he technically starts on the wing, if you look at his heat maps he mostly takes up more central positions and that’s where he really shines.
Gordon over Rashford as he has scored more goals 10 v 6 and tracks back better covering his defenders 36 successful tackles v 9 for Rashford whiles his blocks and interceptions are much higher. Gordon is totally in form and has outplayed Rashford in all areas this season
I think Henderson should join the squad.

Versatile plyers are key with a 23 squad even more so. Only two 9's needed as Rash can play there if needed as 3rd choice. But goes as a winger but back up to Foden on LW.
Stones can be pushed into CDM if Rice gets injured. Mainoo as a back up I'd take a gamble on him over Hendo or Phillips.
Tough ones are Toney or Watkins & Either Madds or Grealish depending if u need an extra winger or no 10.
