The highlight of the match for me was the defensive solidity that Christensen provided. Without him, I am certain that we would've been opened up centrally at times. Christensen closed that space by simply being there. That's how important a ball-winning midfielder is.

There were certain moments in the first half before HT which were really encouraging. Especially the movement of the players off the ball. Most of the time the players are too static. They barely leave their positions. You cannot play any kind of football, let alone positional play, without good movement. In this case, it is the rotations. City does this effortlessly but Barcelona are really bad at it which why Barcelona's games look so slow and boring. I hope Xavi and the players have noticed this and works towards it. You need more physicality and fitness to play proper positional football.
I agree that christensen is very good defensively, but when gundo gets subbed off, the creativity falls through, so i would suggest in about 3 months or so, cubarsi should try it out. He doesnt seem too confident on the ball yet, but in his la masia clips, he looks very decent, and with first team training and confidence, i think he could be perfect.
I also think xavi really needs to try out a full vitor roque match, since right now he comes on in the 70th minute, whilst the defenders are VERY tired, and he is very quick so he exploits that. I want to see what happens when he doesnt have extra energy.

I am sad that we didnt try with Christiansen on DM earlier. The idea was there for some time, but since Xavi feels less pressure now you can see him experimenting more.
He was invisible in the first half but that exactly is the point. He is not here to create he is here to defend and to give the opportunity for Gundo and Pedri to defend less and be the creative spark up front. And that is exactly what happened, beautiful assist and goal from Gundo. Beautiful assist from Pedri.
Lewa finally showed some energy and will to fight. What pisses me off is how much of those dirty off-ball fouls are not given to Barca and when teams are pressing us we dont have Lewa there to offload that pressure. It happens every game. Every single team now has the balls to play high pressure against us. Second goal, when Lamine got that perfect long ball and we scored is what we need to do more. We need to be more agile up front when teams are pressing us, and our backline needs to know how to dispacth those good long balls to alleviate the pressure.
There is not much to say about the refs in LaLiga. It is shambolic, bottom of the pit, and not only because of the all the big decision they make.
It is about the small stuff where they are making those stupid routine mistakes. alowing the dirty fouls from those agressive and provocative backline players in these small Spain teams. It destroys the rythm of the game and you can see that it is physically killing our creative players. Check the first half how many times is Pedri looking at the ref because he is getting kicked or pushed of-ball. Same thing is with Lewa, Gundo, De jong. It is like you are watching the local 5th tier leagues where all those butchers come with single purpose to break the legs and not play football. Its like LaLiga wants the games to become “interesting” by always introducing drama, always talking about Var or penalties, red cards and not focusing on nurturing football and make it interesting because of the game itself. It feels like it is deliberate, and that is why rest of the world is no longer watching.
Before the Spain league was the league of high paced beautiful football, and now its dramatic, with 10 var decision, time wasting, dirty and provocing. If I wasnt a Barca fan I would never spent a single minute of my precious Sunday afternoon to watch the LaLiga game. Every football fan that I know basically says the same for 90% of the games but they would gladly watch Luton vs Everton every time.
