I must say I think Henderson has played absolutely brilliantly. I really haven't been a fan over the years but think he has played so well.

I think we can be strong and dominate in midfield against France, but the biggest dangers from France will come down the wings where they will both deliver balls into the centre or the wingers will just cut in and shoot with no need to get close to the goal, both of which we will have to stop them doing because they do it well. When they do cut in to shoot and are being attended to, a player will have to stay with them ensuring not a second comes they can shoot and in doing so will have to leave their position and so have it covered by someone else. Allowing the player one moment of space to shoot while a player keeps their position and allows another player to take over will be disastrous because it is at that moment during the switch that the shot will come. So the biggest worry is the maturity of our wingers in working with our defenders in this defensive challenge who we will need to do a job that usually comes with maturity, as Sterling could have done, and our wingers are young. Even with Sterling we would have needed another mature defensive display from the wing on the other side. This would have been perfect for James Milner, but he is not there. Hopefully the young wingers can grow in this game on the defensive side of things and it does not kill their ability to continue their good attacking performances. Attacking on the breaks as we saw with Senegal will not be so easy for England against France as France will be more organised and well prepared for this at least until the final 20 minutes of the game when legs get tired and so we will have to do the kind of quick passing attacks in the final third to score which are the kind of goals we see when Sterling is playing and which deal with a defence that is organised and in front of you, not absent through a break away. Where we can also be a big threat and where France is not so strong is in their defence of dead ball free kicks that are crossed into the box. This may mean that balls crossed high into the box in open play would be even tougher for them to deal with as they will have no time to prepare, but in open play Harry Kane is our only dangerous arial threat as the other most threatening players in the air are our defenders. It's going to be a very tough game. The first time I have considered not watching an England game because I cannot bare to watch. Peace and love

First up, the defensive midfielder is always the one fans pick on when things don’t go so well, because they think he does f-all. But he isn’t there to be spectacular, he’s there to do the dirty work, break play up, lay the ball off to attackers, and close the avenues of space. You need to have balance in your team.
