      Iran has historically shown:

      1. Whenever they play weaker team they underestimate
      2. Whenever they are underdog, they play superb.

      I’m glad everyone kept saying Japan has to win. That made Iran perform today

      Before the Iran and Japan match, I was confident that Iran would not lose. Historically, Iran has never lost to any strong Asian teams twice in a row. Additionally, I previously mentioned that their poor performance against Syria right before the Japan match might actually help them win against a stronger team. However, I am concerned that if Iran becomes too excited and overconfident, it could cost them against a weaker opponent like Qatar. I have seen this happen before in my life. In 1996, Iran lost to Iraq in the Asian Cup group stage, and they faced criticism. But later, they played exceptionally well against the strongest teams at that time, defeating Saudi Arabia 3-0 and South Korea 6-2. However, this success led them to believe that winning the Asian Cup would be easy, and they got carried away. Unfortunately, this overconfidence cost them in the semi-finals, and they ended up losing. A similar experience occurred in 2004 when Iran defeated the 4th ranked team in the World Cup, South Korea, with a score of 4-3. They became too cocky and ended up losing in the semi-finals against a weaker team like China. I sincerely hope that this time, Iran will learn from past mistakes.

      IRAN Vs Japan 18 times. IRAN won 6 game till Asian cap semi final 2019 which Japan won 3-0 and Japan only won IRAN 4 time and 6 drawn. that shows how wrong you 're underestimating Team melli and expecting too much from samorays team 🤔👍

      Not sure why everyone's analyzing things as if Japan is somehow miles has been better than Iran. Even though Iran doesn't always do great only against Japan, they have always been very close to each other in FIFA ranking. Sometimes Iran is rank 1 in Asia, and other times Japan and Korea are.

      Iran is the Asian Brazil. Brazil after winning the 2002 WC every time they went into the WC they were one of the favorites to win the whole thing but every time after 2002 they got smacked at the quarter finals and it is also the case for Iran. After winning the 1976 AFC Asian Cup every time they went into the Asian cup after 1976 they got smacked in the knock outs. I hope Iran's curse gets broken this time.

      Good sum! Dude, Azmoun was brilliant. One assist and that goal (offside) is not against any team (the same that beat Germany with 4 goals recently), and his header and defencive job the whole game…

      As Japanese, we all have been suffering from Morryasu's stupid head before the last wourld cup. We know the better tactics, how to play with great players and best lineup. But MORIYASU DOESN'T KNOW FOOTBALL TACTICS. He really doesn't know current football systems and tactics which even we know. And we Japanese have been insisted kick him off so long but never happened due to JFA.

      There is a secret that only Korean ppl know while the rest of the world, especially Europe, do not even recognize. When playing against Japan, you don’t need sophisticated football. What you need is 1990s English kick & rush football. We Koreans know that, but the rest of the world still do not know this and overestimated Japan.

      Remember, there is no absolute answer in terms of tactics and strategy. If you face infantry, you need calvary. If you face calvary, you need archery.

      Despite I was rooting for Japan, I'm really thrilled at Iran play. Japanese goalkeeper couldn't even have a moment of rest. Japanese side was heavily stormed. Japanese couldn't even keep up with ball
      Kinda sad cause Japan was really close to win but good luck to Iran.
      Persians played very aggressively and I noticed that. According to what have I just seen, I think Iran will win the cup. Despite my white-reds players wasn't playing, It was very emotional match.
      Good job Iran! Hope Persian players will make it to win it

      Iran and Korea will have a tough time in Qatar because lots of Arabs want an Arab team to win. The competition didn't seem fair because the referee kept supporting Arab teams. There's a rumor that a referee from Kuwait is appointed for favoring the Iran and Qatar match, which sounds ridiculous.
