  1. The only thing certain about Martinez’s injury…. We’re going to have to listen to 8 weeks of Maguire giving interviews about how he’s “forced his way back into the starting lineup “

  2. Maguire and Lindelof have proved time and time again they aren’t good enough. Our only slight chance is Shaw plays there and we fill in at LB but it still affects the team performance.

  3. Huge miss. Such a shame. As mad as it sounds you wouldn't offer him a new contract until he proves he can do a season without being out for a lenghly period.

  4. Fans need to remember this moment and realise how important key members of the squad being out are before they start crying for the manager to be sacked again. As hipster as it is to bemoan Maguire, he might not be the best fit in the system but he’s not done badly this season coming back in when needed. He’s got a decent diagonal on him too, and is a presence in the box. I think we need to just be patient and see this season for what it has been so far. Development for the future without being spectacular.

  5. When i broke 3 different metatarsals in the same foot. Different toes. Little toe broke twice. So, 4 metatarsal injuries. NHS didn't operate. Just wear a boot for 3 months and stay off it.

  6. Lots of similarities between Martinez and Robbo.
Robson is one of my all time favourite players, but there's a reason he was known as "Mr Snap 'n' Fix".
When Spitting Image did skits on the England Team in the 80's the joke was that he would walk into a room, trip up, and his arm, or his leg, or his head would fall off… and the next scene he'd be covered in bandages… and Bobby Robson would still pick him.
When the series finished and they auctioned off the puppets, if I'd thought for one minute that Bryan Robson's head would only fetch about £300 I'd have been there and bought the bugger.

  7. I know Steve is obsessed with his little passing block in front of goal, but I don't think we can underestimate how much freedom up the left Shaw's return has unlocked.
I think any opposition defence that looks at United team sheet and sees Shaw and Rashford, will be relieved if they hear that Shaw will be playing Centre Back…

  8. Lisandro has been as unlucky as the rest of our team thanks to injury. I don't believe it is because of how he plays ala Bryan Robson

  9. The Stadium : The only none demolish option is strictly based around the railway line build over agreement. Even then you’d have to accept areas of the ground closing in turn. Which means 75000 becoming 50000 at best during a minimum of 4 years maybe as long as 7 years. Also many services and areas around the ground would be out of commission for significant periods during the process. This may still leave areas of the finished stadium being not what everyone would expect to be world class.
I was involved in the design of a new NY university in Abu Dhabi which included sports stadia ($4bn+). The issue of best in class other than capacity would potentially remain an issue with a refurb. But let’s do it !

  10. Martinez is vital.. now Maguire will suck the life out of our team every game instead.. getting the ball.. waiting… passing it to get rid… then running backwards whilst pointing.. EVERY TIME!! it's soul destroying to watch! ..in seeming slow motion too

  11. If a specific player changes everything, let alone a cb, maybe the manager is a major problem. What if lisandro didnt exist, neither would this fraud manager career. Just show how poor of manager this fraud is. He hangs his career on frenkie de jong and lisandro just like neil warnock the only time his team played was with taarabt or else he will lose most games. Sack ten hag.

  12. 3rd long term injury for Licha now. What was his injury history before arriving at Utd? If he's injury prone, then we need more left footed defenders, in reality, we need a LCB and a LFB.

  13. He's simply the catalyst for everything good that happens in the side. It used to be Bruno, but matinez's composure, tactical know how, passing and general shit housery play against opponents give the rest of the team SO much confidence

  14. We probably need to get another ballplaying CB in the summer so we at least have some back up for Martinez or someone with a similar profile that we can rotate in for him now and then.

  15. He’s well over rated, he’s good at certain things of course he’s also not great at other things and that pretty much applys to every player ever. The midfield is what’s going to matter the defence will take care of itself. Don’t forget we scraped a last minute winner vs wolves it was hardly men v boys… and he was in the defence for that game.

  16. While this is a massive blow, I would like to see Jonny Evans at left center half partnering Varane instead of Maguire. I trust that Evans would also be just as, if not more likely, to get his head on the ball in the opponents box & put it on goal. As much I would've like to see Maguire be a success, he (unfortunately) just doesn't hv the skill set to be a United player. If your sitting back defending your own goal, you couldn't find someone better. It's going forward that he obviously struggles with. Then he gets done for pace. I believe going with Evans is the best option for United until we get our Butcher back. Get well soon, Butcher. We miss you! Have a good evening, Ste. UTFP UTFR❤

  17. I agree with Shaw or Evans over Maguire Vs Villa.

Evans started in the home fixture and pocketed Watkins by not letting him get started with his running and forcing him to play back to goal.

  18. SHAW / VARANE CB PARTNERSHIP last season was slightly more solid than Varane/ Martinez…Shaw is much better CB than Maguire,Lindelof….even Shaw passing from CB last season was close to Martinez…problem is putting Maguire in there
