  1. The whole morality debate is disingenuous. In reality, the United States government is controlled by international citizens, and we know who we’re talking about.

  2. Seems like a responsible decision. Ferreira had a high probability to end up as a political hostage, Dallas had a high probability of never getting paid, and with secondary sanctions coming online, MLS could have received some extremely unwanted scrutiny at best, with penalties a possibility depending on how long it took to collect payment.

I know pro athletes are not expected to be news junkies or reasonably up to date on geopolitics, but that's what agents and representatives are for, and whoever told Jesus that it was reasonable to move to Russia in 2024 should be replaced. Either advising in bad faith or just woefully uninformed.

  3. “We all know what happened to Brittany griner”

Yeah as if Jesus is gonna go in and bring illegal drugs into the country of Russia SMH. That’s a bad comparison 🤦🏽‍♂️

  4. I don’t know what Ferreira was thinking by entertaining this move. Putting the war aside, what was the benefit to going to Russia aside from getting more money. They don’t play in any UEFA competitions and most of the major European leagues aren’t buying players from the Russian league as often as they used to. I hope this wasn’t a desperation move like Luis Chavez’ move to Russia was.

  5. Did these donuts forget that Brittney Griner wasn’t just arrested because the “big bad evil Russians” hate Americans and want to take our athletes as hostages in their gulags… no that’s not what happened. She took drugs into their country and she was caught and arrested for breaking the law. Why are they acting like she was completely innocent and taken hostage.

  6. With the numerous sanctions in place and the risk of him becoming a political hostage, MLS made the right move. Maybe he wanted to be another Britney Griner but not on their watch.

  7. BTW, Russia isn't in Europe, both are in Asia but in different parts. Russia is in North Asia, the way India is in South Asia. Europe is in West Asia the way China is in East Asia.
