Chris Sutton Criticizes Liverpool Player’s Performance In Carabao Cup Against Fulham
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher faced criticism from Chris Sutton during the second half of the Reds’ Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham. The 25-year-old, who serves as Jurgen Klopp’s designated Carabao Cup goalkeeper, started his fifth match in this year’s competition on Wednesday night. In the 55th minute, Kelleher failed to secure Willian’s cross into the box, but he was fortunate when Andreas Pereira’s shot hit the post. Sutton, sharing his thoughts on BBC Radio 5 Live, expressed dissatisfaction with Kelleher’s performance as Fulham sought an equalizer.
“I believe Darwin Nunez made an incorrect pass; he should have chosen Luis Diaz’s run,” Sutton commented on the BBC Sport website. “On the other hand, Caoimhin Kelleher mishandled the cross, completely mistiming it, resulting in Andreas Pereira hitting the post from an angle.”
It was a mixed night for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher as the Reds advanced to the Carabao Cup final. Kelleher could have potentially performed better in Issa Diop’s goal, but he made crucial saves in the first half against Raul Jimenez and Willian. In the second half, Kelleher made a notable save to deny a dangerous Harry Wilson attempt.
Sutton suggested that Kelleher was fortunate in keeping the ball out, stating, “Harry Wilson has been the difference maker; Caoimhin Kelleher is so lucky the ball somehow goes around the post.” Despite a 1-1 draw on the night, Kelleher and his teammates secured a 3-2 aggregate win in the tie.
This outcome secured Liverpool’s place in their 14th League Cup final, where they will face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 25 February.

For LFC vs Chelsea, i hope Kelleher is really 100% ready for it. LFC has come this far. Might as well go winning it all.
