Kalvin Phillips time in the wilderness at Manchester City looks to be over as he joins West Ham United. His lack of minutes over the past two seasons makes it easy to forget, but with his unique combination of ball-winning and passing range, he could be the perfect addition to David Moyes’ team.

  1. Love the videos on this channel…always well researched and with a well argued point. There is a bit of a gamble in this signing for West ham, but it's limited IMO. If Phillips is any where near the player he was at Leeds, it's an excellent signing and solves a key problem for West Ham…the "Alvarez Problem"…that is who do we play when Alvarez isn't available? With Phillips we have cover/an alternative for Alvarez and the option to play a double pivot of Alvarez and Phillips. We also have some additional creativity…already counting the number of assists for Phillips for KudusšŸ˜€

  2. Too broken, but he will at least be motivated to get into he England squad. Alvarez is a better player though. I'd rather we just got rid of Moyes really.

  3. He’ll be a fantastic signing for all the points made above plus for European games he classes as Hone Grown which is great.

The only downside is, who drops out

    JWP or Soucek?

  4. The pints thing made me chuckle. Well worth the like. Personally having Phillips in is like ticking off an old box for moyes, as we wanted him before he went to city. Always performs well for Gareth in the England squad and whose to say he won't do well like lingard, who also wasn't playing.

  5. Glad I've found this channel brilliant presentation! šŸ‘ Whether KP will be a good signing (for us āš’ļø) time will tell. Different position but I'm fairly sure he won't hit the ground running like Lingard did (even though he had limited minutes leading up to the transfer…) What hopefully he has retained though is his incredible long passing ability

  6. As long as Moyes is at the helm, and Kalvin is healthy and available, he’s going to be a superb signing. If Moyes stays past this season, the loan will likely become permanent. If 29 year old JWP for 30mil was a good deal (which it has been), then 28 year old Phillips for 40mil will be too. Helps with home grown numbers. Him and Alvarez create the stoutest defensive midfield duo in the league, and Soucek will never be forced to play the sole CDM role again(šŸ™šŸ»). It’s the first time we will have legitimate top 6 DEPTH at a part of the pitch in years.
If we can offload a piece or two of Benrahma/Cornet/Fornals, and bring in some pace on the left wing before the end of the Winter window that Moyes will actually play, this is a team that legitimately could have European football again next season. If that happens, and they can entice a Steidten-stamped Striker to come over in the Summer that will not end up like Haller/Scamacca, the fans might be able to truly get behind the boys and embrace such a defensive side that has previously been so painful to watch at times. That would be squad where you could cheer for 90minutes of 40% possession.

  7. Thanks mate, great information…..! If you get the chance could you do one on Osman also coming to us…. Cheers āš’ Although we got an option to buy come the end of the season I doubt we’ll be able to keep Phillips…. Just wages alone I doubt it…. But if Moyes is going at the end of the season like the ITKs have been saying, apparently we have someone lined up šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰ , then maybe that will change like it did for Bowen recently having agreed a new 7 year deal after saying he would not want to play for Moyes anymore. A lot of players hate the way we play at the moment (The Moyes Low block game) and there have been a good few bust up’s over that issue as well as issues with Moyes man management which I can confirm first hand as well as what insiders have been telling us….. I personally will be glad to see Moyes leave with a thank you but now it’s time to move on …. there’s so much going on behind the scenes from the academy through to Steidten and his new role which is the only reason we got Kudos despite what Moyes would want us to believe….! āš’

  8. Moyes has repeatedly tried to pass through the lines and it works to an extent, except guys like Soucek undermine it by being too shaky on the ball. Play Philips and Alvarez alongside each other and you can just play a front four in front of it. Arrange it however you want but the midfield will win it, pass it and get it to the ball players. Phillips makes us a genuine Europa League contender.

  9. Fantastic content as usual, thank you ……. I am a West Ham season ticket holder, and I'm really excited about seeing Phillips in Claret & Blue…. just the thought of Kudus running onto one of those diagonal balls! COYI

  10. As a City fan, I hope he'll be successful there. I remember laughing at Moyes when he replaced Sir Alex, but seeing what he is doing to West Ham, best of luck to him and the team. May they be the best team in London

  11. Think this video is a bang on assessment. If he stays fit and plays like he did for Leeds, this will be another great piece of business. If it’s the opposite it will quite simply be a disaster. As a West Ham fan I would also hope he would have the motivation to come and play well for us, considering he still got picked for England whilst warming the bench at the Etihad. Fingers crossed it works out well for us, COYI āš’ļø

  12. Excellent video.

Why does Guardiola hate him? Not tippy tappy enough? Moves the ball forward to quickly? Runs around too much and doesn't hold positon?

And if these are true why did City sign him?
