    What has happened to Kieran Trippier?



    Newcastle United saw a Carabao Cup semi-final spot snatched away from them on Tuesday night after being beaten on penalties at Chelsea.

    Callum Wilson had capitalised on Benoit Badishile’s mistake to put Eddie Howe’s men in command in the quarter-final clash at Stamford Bridge. But after plenty of pressure from the Blues, Mykhailo Mudryk’s stoppage time leveller sent the tie to penalties with just seconds remaining.

    And Mauricio Pochettino’s men prevalied in the shoot-out, netting all four of their spot-kicks as Kieran Trippier and Matt Ritchie missed for the Magpies, who bow out of the competition in the last eight.

      It's the fact everyone keeps saying but he's been brilliant we move on. Yes, but you've got to go on a game by game basis. You can't ignore the fact he's cost us big time in the last couple of games and now he's single handedly knocked us out the cup. That can't be ignored purely because it's Keiran Trippier. For me all we have to compete for now is europa cause we aren't getting champions league this year but its looking like another trophiless season. Have to beat the mackems and hopefully get europa

      Trippier cost 3 goal aginst Everton 2 aginst Spurs then 1 today i am sry he is or new Titus Bramble, and i blame Howe for keep play him it clear for all he not here mental send him home into hes personal problems is solve, becuse he cost the club defeat on defeats, but Howe is to blame to then he not ready mental to play for England why do Howe then think he is for Newcastle United.

      Trippier has NOT been brilliant all season. He’s been the same as the rest of the team great at home but poor away from home, in many games he’s been our worst player.

      You're asking the wrong questions, too many folk with mics have been adding more & more pressure to Tripps, on top of his tiredness, he's now thinking about the onslaught that's coming rather than doing his natural best ! It's exactly like the camera being dropped, everyone's human!
      Now ask WHY lewis Hall wasn't used, Chelsea allowed it so, why the hell not eh ? Ask that please .

      Trippier has been the most important signing for Howe, but he's possibly going to be his downfall. A similar mistake from Trippier against the Mackems, and Howe, despite his record here, could be in his way. Remember, once Howe's confidence goes (and it easily could) the team's confidence will be in bits, and a complete reset will be in the minds of the owners. Oh, and bin the cameraman. 😢

      hes playin broken hearted [trips]confused as a high level pro he knows so much and is in a fog- i go back to a great bbc visit to Newcastle training grounds by Alan Shearer to the indoor with Matt Ritchie and the youth goal keep that was released talkin about spot kicks then they did a few to demonstrate a proper one. very hard to see a bad one but ritchies older rusty in game mind set too just a hard way to go out

      Well done guys, hard to do any report when just losing in the manner we had. Gutted as all toon fans will be. Trippier has been awful since his withdrawal from the England squad. I have seen a decline in a man who was our rock. But i then stop and think we had / have loads of people giving support to Tonali at the time of his gambling exposure and maybe, just maybe Trippier now needs some support to sort out whatever is going on in his world.

      First of all I know the tickets for Luton are very limited but I hope someone from Newcastle United see this video and give Lee a ticket for the match as he follows this club everywhere and yet he hasn’t enough points while some corporate fans will probably be going to the match for the first time and this does stick in my throat in situations like this one, yes we need corporate I understand that fully but as fans go following not just the men’s team but also the ladies team then the pre season trips surely to god someone out there can get Lee a ticket for Saturday 🤷‍♂️

      As for trippier if I was Eddie Howe I would have a long talk with Trippier about his problems off field obviously that’s if he wanted to talk about them and if not I’d explain we are all here for him but in the best interests of himself and the team I’m going to give him time off from football even training, go away in the sunshine with your family have a lovely Christmas and come back after the Forest game with a clear head and a freshness to his game, even warming up Trippier is looking Gaunt, very pale, he just doesn’t look well at all he’s normally a bubbly character and he is certainly got things on his mind and whatever they are I just hope everything is ok for him and his family, I’m gutted just like everyone else but some things are just way more important than losing a game of football so please just put things into perspective before making yourself look like a idiot on social media we are not or want to be an entitled fanbase 🤷‍♂️🖤🤍🖤🤍

      Using Tripper to call out sacking Eddie Howe is a joke. Asking Mourinho to takeover is even worse; this guy has been finished ten years ago. We can ask questions about the team but please stop being too mental.

      Since people are blaming the manager for the tactics, blame the players too. They are committing to that tactics. Something needs to be deal with immediately, or we can’t even beat Luton town this weekend.

      We were not up to our usual standards all over the pitch last night. Most of them looked leggy and our passing was frequently sloppy.
      We need a new striker. The goal only happened because the defender gifted Wilson the goal. Wilson cannot beat a man his control was poor. It was a good finish though.
      We need a new right winger. Almiron is wasteful and continues to make poor choices in great positions. It's a shame he couldn't build on his purple patch of last season, but he's reverted to type.
      Trippier needs a longer rest. I don't know what's wrong, maybe it's something to do with the personal issues that saw him return from the England camp, or maybe he's fatigued, whatever it is, he's just not been up to his normal standards recently.
      Gordon was clearly injured – he was limping for ages, and yet, Howe ignored it and didn't take him off until Gordon actually sat down.
      Why not bring Hall on?

      I would let Trippier play both Luton and Forest.
      That's two matches he should be able to get his confidence back. Just be clear on doing the basics.

      Then I would probably rest him against Liverpool and play Livramento on the right, Burn on the left.
      With Botman now back, he's hopefully ready for Liverpool

      NEWCASTLE"s strength is in its constant attacking at speed.
      However against Paris and Chelsea after we scored we sat back and allowed both teams to constantly attack us.
      This is surely down to the managers instructions.If not then who in the team is responsible?
      "Constantly strong in defence"??
      NO we were not.
      WE lost our lead as a result.
      That is not being constantly strong.

      Tactics were embarrassing. Chelsea are a average team and we made them look world class, they totally dominated us. Did we put more than 3-4 passes together? We look tired, yeah chasing opposition players around for 90 minutes will do that.

      I wonder what's going on in Trip's private life that's affecting his game. He pulled out of England duty for a 'private family matter' It's something that brought Howe to suggest we all need to support him. I Hope it's not too serious 😕
      As far as his current 'form', it's clear his head is not fully focused, so should be dropped for a couple of games for his own, as well as the teams benefit.

      Tripps shouldve done better for that goal but have we forgotten about how bad Lascelles has been in the past we need to be strong as a fanbase and not get torches out like on twitter
