Great news 🙂 He’s been a big cheese since he joined and matured nicely under Eddie – when he scored against PSG he was on a roll. Maybe he’s peaked and time will tell where he’ll rank in terms of Mags’ defenders but I believe it will be very highly – he’s been fab for the club.

Congratulations to all involved, a brilliant signing initially and here a clear statement of intent to on on one side grow the club but also bring on and improve the current core of players, Schär has clearly improved despite the Bruce years. It would not be a surprise were he to actually be a part of the club off the field in the future. Well done.
When ever I have seen him play for Switzerland he often ends up on a stretcher or concussed, the guy is a warrior.

Easily in the top 5 best CB's to ever play for Newcastle. So underrated and fully deserving of a new contract, from being cast out into limbo by Steve Bruce to one of the most consistent performers in the league and Champions League player, remarkable.
Quality player, whos been so important for us. I was getting a little worried at the end of last season, mainly because he was starting to get beat for pace at times, but thats obviously because he played the whole season, and is no spring chicken. We need a similar type player to take some of the burden off him so he doesn't get totally burnt out.
