Nicolás Hernán Gonzalo Otamendi (born 12 February 1988) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Valencia CF, as a central defender.

In his professional career he played mainly for Vélez Sarsfield and Porto, winning eight major titles with the second including three national championships and the 2011 Europa League.

An Argentine international since 2009, Otamendi represented the country at the 2010 World Cup and the 2015 Copa América.The Valencia defender has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with Spanish newspaper Super Deporte confirming United’s interest. The centre-back is expected to make a £36million move, with Valencia saying the full buy-out clause must be met if he is to join.
However, recent reports by Sky Sports that United have made a £28.6m offer for Sergio Ramos cast doubt over their pursuit of Otamendi. But, according to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, Otamendi’s agent Eugenio Lopez has confirmed his client’s move is not in jeopardy.

Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi has agreed to join the Red Devils, according to Argentinean publication Ole.
The 27-year-old will reportedly move to Old Trafford in the summer, subject to United agreeing a transfer fee with Valencia.
Otamendi only recently signed a new deal to keep him at the Mestalla until 2019, and Valencia will demand £35.9m for their star defender.
