Problem with British football right here “midfielders should be able to do everything” too busy wanting goals and assists instead of them dictating the flow of the game like the countless amount of Spaniards that do it. If xavi busquets iniesta was English they’d be cast aside because they didn’t score enough goals. i feel sorry for whoever who will inevitably pay 80-100 million for rice. they’re getting a very good but massively overrated player. defensively he is very average, listen i watch england and westham and never felt that the defensive line is “protected”, on the ball he is underrated. put it this way, if he is from venezuela he would be 10 million, even if he had stayed as irish. he wouldnt be worth more than 30 million. i hope chelsea gets him they like overrated english players over there

John Barnes between 86/87-90 was clearly the best player in England, but Bobby Robson didn’t use him properly. If he did we could of maybe beat Argentina in 86 and Won the 1990 WC
