Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) campaign in the AFC Champions League was halted due to a humbling 0-5 defeat to Kawasaki Frontale at the Todoroki Stadium in Japan on Tuesday (Nov 28).
Goals from Akihiro Ienaga (eighth minute), Leandro Damiao (50th), Marcinho (60th), Yu Kobayashi (69th) and Miki Yamane (88th) completed a comfortable win for the Japanese side.
The victory gave Kawasaki 15 points from five wins and a place in the second stage of the competition from Group I.
JDT are currently in third place with six points while Ulsan Hyundai, who beat Thai club BG Pathum United 3-1 away, are in second place with nine points.
The Southern Tigers will play Pathum in their final group match in Seri Iskandar on Dec 12.
