The man just got global flak for being too honest. Are you surprised he said many things but nothing you can nail down. I truly hope he stays. The job he has done for Canada has been legendary.
I think he’s gone. He hinted as much, at his most recent press conference. The appeal of managing in Europe, is too grand to turn down.

The next World Cup will have 48(!) teams. There was talk it was going to be groups of 3 teams, meaning only 2 home games for Canada. Seriously FIFA are so greedy they’ve made their showcase a complete and utter joke. Why would Herdman stick around another 3.5 years to play another 2 games, which is what Canada has just done. He’s better off moving on in order to continue building his resume.
Herdman is a arrogant twat and sore loser but his success has been undeniable. He earned the spot.
He is part of the process and growth and has a great rapport with players and fans, but I think as the team improves and strengthens, he might be replaced by someone with pedigree.
Herdman is an excellent development coach. That's his background. His skills are player development, scouting. etc. Which is why it worked with the women's team and and the men's team at the stage where they were. As a tactician, he doesn't really have a proven record, nor has he proven much in this world cup. Dominating over CONCACAF teams doesn't really show his tactical genuis either. We need a new head coach with a proven record who can stand toe to toe against the likes of Deschamps, Tite, Luis Enrique, and guide this team to the next level. Herdman isn't equiped for that.
They could still consider keeping him as part of the staff. But he shouldn't be the head coach.

Just because the 2026 World cup will be hosted in Canada does not mean they will get out of the group stages or even go to the round of 16. I know that their will be 48 teams and it will be waterdown but don't have high expectations for Canada.
I am saying don't have high expectations for Canada because they would have relaxed and CONCACAF is not as strong as European or South American teams.
If he does leave
I can see him become a manager in England
And best believe some of the players will go there to play for him

I think the opportunity to build a squad at club level will be appealing. When your only limitations are money instead of borders. I could even imagine a scenario where Ryan Reynolds (who’s definitely been watching) taps him for Wrexham should they stall in their climb.
Would we be able to bring in a better coach with Canada’s budget. I can’t see it.
