  1. I wanted Kovacic to stay for another season or two. Loved him from the moment we took him from his temporary Madrid to permanent part of Blue family. Once a Chels always a Chels.

  2. He said he was torn.
Although he knows it was wrong, his heart overruled his head and he wanted a draw.
That did not mean that he did not try to make City win, but he was not upset at 4:4.
I remember watching Man City vs Man Utd, 1973/74 Season, if Man Utd did not win, Man Utd were as good as relegated.
0:0 and Denis Law, having moved from Utd to City, with that famous, or infamous, depending on your point of view, back heel and City won 1:0.
Law was devastated, could not carry on and left the field in floods of tears.
He said afterwards that he was hoping the Ref would have given offside, or anything, so the goal did not count, but count it did.
Sometimes a Player loves a Club so much, when playing for them, that when he leaves it is impossible to fall out of love (Shearer and Newcastle, perfect example).
Although Kovacic was not at Chelsea that long, it was long enough where he grew to love the Club and was sorry to leave , so maybe City Fans can forgive him for that momentary laps of loyalty and his loyalty was maybe understandably somewhere else for a split second.
