Who's your sneaky pick for a start vs. Jamaica? π
Jacob Shaffelburg!!!!!!
Would like to see Johnston come up into a CDM, putting Laryea back right. Making that move also sets up for the potential of 4-5-1 formation, which will probably be necessary against higher calibre teams at Copa America and World Cup. Gotta form up defensively and rely on our counter attack.
Davies needs to be a striker and should stop being in every position. It caused formation chaos in the world cup.
When will canada start playing for 2024 copa. Because half of these players are hopeful retiring after this game.
Another thing. Canada was at their best when Davies was playing the wing period. Canada at it worse when Davies is playing left back.
People who say a certain player should retire know nothing about the sport. We donβt have the depth to discard players. This isnβt football manager this is real life
It's time for some Canadian midfielders to start raising their game. Osorio and Kone come to mind and let's give Ahmed a chance too. And let's stop giving a pass to Davies. The wingback position is essentially an outside midfield position with defensive and offensive duties. If Canada's midfield got over run by Japan, that means players like Davies got over run. If he's a world class player, start showing it by taking command of the left side of the pitch. Same for Buchanan or Laryea on the right side. This team is supposed to be quite talented – it's time to start showing it. Same for David. Completely invisible in Qatar and hasn't done a great deal since. It's time for him to put a couple of balls in the back of the net against Jamaica!
Final thing. If this team comes out and gives up a goal in the first 25 minutes I'm going to scream. No more amateurish starts like we say against Japan or the USA in the NL Final…
I'm a little frustrated with this commentary. The reason Canada shifted from a 4 back to a 3 back is because they have world class wing backs in the likes of Davies, Buchanan and even Laryea. So rather than suggesting they go back to 4 backs, how about calling out these wingbacks and demand that they provide the defensive cover that they are supposed to in a 3-5-2 setup?
In the same vein Wheels, it's NOT how Davies is going to be used, it's how Davies shows up and performs. I want to see him take command of the left side of the pitch in a wingback position. Where was he when Japan was scoring 4 goals?
This deserves way more views
With the personnel that Canada have, Iβm hoping they play in a 4-3-3, having Davies and Tajon as wingers on top with David. I personally think with the 3-5-2, there are too many gaps defensively.
