ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop and Steve Nicol join Dan Thomas to react to Thomas Delaney’s comments on Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens’ podcast following Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich, where Joshua Kimmich scored a spectacular chip over Roman Burki. The FC guys address Delaney’s defeatist comments because it “disrespects” the entire Dortmund squad. Hislop praises Delaney’s honesty and likens it to his Newcastle United side that were unable to win the Premier League title.

Both teams had chances to capitalize on and score goals just buyern was better on that regard more interestingly haaland got few opportunities which was unsuccessful. On the day of the match the aim is scoring and buyern did that.
Stevie hair style much better today 😊
Bayern are the reason people aren’t big on the bundesliga. They play powernomics every season just like Real and Barca
I agree with Stevie, there’s things you just don’t say in the open – it just makes you look like a soft touch
To get to the top, they have to stop selling Bayern their best player and start buying top quality in the league and abroad
Well said, Shaka
They need a better GK and Marco Rues to stay fit
Hard being a Dortmund fan sometimes. Too much focus on LOVE, all this happy go lucky bs all the time, Dortmund need to be ruthless, they need to hold each other ACCOUNTABLE AS DELANEY IS TRYING TO DO.
Wow. I rarely agree with Stevie, but here we are. He's right. It's tough for a team that is considered by many other teams to be a great place to "develop" their young talent.
Bayern on the other hand have a stable core, which has been purposely shaped and molded over time. They know each other well and their plays are set and polished.
For Dortmund, they constantly get new youngsters in, and there is often open talk of those who will soon transfer somewhere else. (Sancho for example).
Which is why I couldn't understand, in another segment, Don's insistence that Dortmund should change their coach. They are currently second only to Bayern. Come on.
Stevie is right, but this should have been seen coming though Bayern Munich can buy the best players of teams that they finished above
Dortmund need some winners
It's just about time. If they somehow retain sancho, haaland and build their team around hummels, they DEFINITELY have a chance in next two years.
just goes to show broken European soccer is broken
If Dortmund can keep big talent for long time in their club they can big world best team , but problem is they can't,
Hakimi leaving for Madrid
Confirms the defeatist mentality that many assumed existed within the Bundesliga.
I just feel like it’s so obvious which is why he didn’t feel like their was a problem saying it out loud
Normally I would say Stevie is right in this. However, when it comes to Dortmund, I think Thomas was totally on point by saying this out loud. BVB is not a winning club, simple as that. They focus on the happy go-getter fotball, which young players thrive under and develop great with. While this is a sympathetic stragedy, and can be capitalized on at times (2013) it is also a stragedy that does not harmonise well with einning titles. Dortmund needs to take a look at themselves as a club, and where they want to go. In Germany people conviniently skip this topic, burt Thomas Delaney does the right thing here, and calls it out as it is…..
In short, selling clubs cannot win against Big Buying clubs. Nonetheless, i support Bvb till the end.
