Despite being one of the few undefeated teams left in college football, James Madison will not be playing in either the Sun Belt Championship or a big time bowl game, why’s that? Because of an outdated NCAA rule, the Dukes have to wait for postseason play and because of their success, they are the most “controversial team” in college football to the NCAA. Today though, I want to talk about the entire James Madison story from their rise as a program, their hot shot coach, their FBS success and all the details of the controversy. We will talk about all of that plus what I think should happen for them in the future, enjoy!

  1. The NCAA created the transfer portal, thereby obliterating the transfer sit-out year. Then, when a team gets good via the transfer portal, they tell them to sit out 2 years!

  2. so who do you have to pay off to get a waiver? what more could a program do?

*Note: Dukes beat NDSU during their playoff run in '16 at North Dakota in the Semifinals.

  3. NCAA needs to do better, by getting rid of the stupid two year Transition process. I mean, Jax State is not doing so bad in year one
The NCAA needs to allow teams like this get opportunities.

  4. They've been a successfull program for any of us who keep up with all college football programs. They are a serious contender in the D-1 arena. I watched the game in the national championship with another perennial power North Dakota State. Tough loss in that game. If players can now transfer to other schools through the NIL, and immediately play, then this delay of 2 years before moving up in classification needs to be abolished. The NCAA has a disconnect to critical logic. They (NCAA) opened the door to that issue.

  5. JMU is only “controversial” because they’re good. No one was complaining when Sam Houston St moved because they were garbage. This rule should be thrown out. FREE JMU

  6. Mickey Matthews was the head coach that helped put JMU on the 🗺️ if you’re from Virginia you know the Dukes have always been winners!
