William Silva de Carvalho (born 7 April 1992) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Sporting Clube de Portugal as a defensive midfielder. Born in Luanda, Angola, Carvalho moved to Portugal as an infant, and joined Sporting Clube de Portugal’s youth system at the age of 13. He made his official debut with the first team on 3 April 2011, playing six minutes in a 1–1 away draw against Vitória S.C. for the top division championship, then spent six months on loan to C.D. Fátima in the third level. Still owned by the Lisbon side, Carvalho played one 1/2-seasons with Cercle Brugge K.S.V. in the Belgian Pro League, where he featured alongside several Sporting teammates in the same predicament. He returned for the 2013–14 campaign, being a defensive mainstay for newly appointed coach Leonardo Jardim. Carvalho was first summoned by full side manager Paulo Bento in November 2013, for the 2014 FIFA World Cup playoffs against Sweden. He gained his first cap in the second leg on the 19th, coming on as a 73rd-minute substitute in a 3–2 away triumph (4–2 on aggregate)

  1. I think he is the next roy keane if MU sign him. He has good composure, good short and long passing. However, he need to improve his agility if he play in premier league.

  2. I can understand why some people would underestimate his value. He keeps thing simple. No faffing about with holding the ball too long or dribbling out of your depth. Your job as a DM is to break opposition plays and set your teammates on their way. He seems to have a good eye for passing the ball and is a decent tackler with good positioning. He's also a big lad and a presence on the field. He's definitely not worth his release clause of £37million, but at 22, he's a good prospect and can develop into a great DM.

  3. His mobility and tackles make Arteta looks an horrible player.Arsenal really need this guy. just imagine pairing him with Ramsey in the middle, while Sanchez and Walcott on both wings,Ozil behind either Sanogo or Campbell. i see goals raining.

  4. would fit perfect with chelsea playing with matic. we building a youthful squad for the future, courtise 22, matic 25, hazard 23, oscar 22, salah 22, van ginkel 21, costa 25, kurt zouma 19

  5. Perfect for Arsenal. He's exactly what is needed (strong defensive midfielder) and will fit Arsenal's style (holds onto the ball extremely well, and a crisp, accurate passer). Well worth anything under 35 million.
