Everton Sign Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gana Gueye has rejoined Everton from Paris Saint-Germain after leaving for Paris in 2019. The 33 year old has signed for an undisclosed fee, and joins on a two-year contract until the end of June 2024.

The Senegalese international returns to Merseyside after spending three years with the Blues from 2016 to 2019, making 108 appearances and forging a reputation as one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders.

Gana left Goodison Park for Paris Saint-Germain in July 2019 and, during his three years in Paris, won two league titles, four domestic cups and finished runner-up to Bayern Munich in the 2020 Champions League final.

The midfielder becomes Everton’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of defenders James Tarkowski, Rúben Vinagre and Conor Coady, midfielder Amadou Onana and forwards Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay.

  1. He used to be our engine in midfield, now having our best trio Inferno since years, lets hope we are gonna score more goals and add quality to team. Maupay is our key to success.

  2. I don’t see this as a great signing due to his age, especially if the fee of £8mil is true. However, I do see him as a mentor to Onana, and hopefully give a bit of stability in the midfield provided we play a back 4.
