  1. How about a 4-2-2-2 against city? 2 x CDM positions occupied by Casemiro/Scott and Amrabat and the two CAM as Bruno and Mount/Ericson and both Rashford and Hojlund up top.

    Thoughts…?

  2. Amrabat does the tidying up. Eriksen can play a pass. However we need to play the passes quicker. Keep the ball el rondo til the opponent loses concentration and the passage of play will come. We take too long on the ball in the first half. Second half was better coz we played the ball quicker 3 touches max on the ball and pass. City will have the ball at the weekend we just need the legs to close them down so maybe mount, Hannibal should play.

  3. What we saying about Rashford this season he's gone backwards. Personally think he needs to be dropped him and Antony are wastefull and it is holding us back massively

  4. I think Eriksen largely is the difference between our performances this season and last season. This season we are slightly better in some ways (like attack with Hojlund) but because EtH has felt pressured (I think) to not use Eriksen as much as last season, we have still performed much worse than last season.

  5. Eriksen is the only one in a united shirt that even thinks about receiving the ball in the midfield and thinks about turning. Nobody does that. They all pass it backwards. We dont have anyone that is a true midfielder that receives the ball from defense and tries to turn towards the opposition goal and look up. It is so frustrating to watch.

  6. Before eriksen came on there was no diagonal balls over to the wing and quick switches of play when eriksen came on he did exactly that changing the tempo sometimes its the simple things that are most effective… I'm under no illusion ten hag should change the style from transition to a transition possession types and do out with players who can't do the simple things right etc these guys of our never really crosses to the striker except for eriksen my goodness some of our guys can't even do one on one's anymore there are some bright spots but the bright spot we need be getting is a Flippin win against city to cap of the resurgence

  7. Marcos Rashford and Garnacho need to be trained on their second touches and their decision on when to hit the ball when the opposition keeper is running towards! them.

  8. Steve I like your analysis and always watch your five things we learned but don’t be so one dimensional give Maguire some credit he’s played ok -say that -he’s not fantastic we know but he’s showed determination and a will to win

  9. Is second-half Erikson a tactic we should use more. Wait until opposition are more tired and he can just about keep pace but also can deploy his technical skill. Obviously won’t work against all teams but seemed like a good use of him.

  10. 😂 Bruno to drop down and Casimiro to push up. People just focus Maguire too much on him. When he was bought , very one knew he was an old style defender, not a technical defender. Bruno waste so much with bad shooting. Mount as a false 9 like Firmino for Liverpool opening up room for Rashford and I would like to see Sancho get a chance on the right. I could see all three getting goals and Bruno flourish. But I still see City ripping man utd apart.

  11. onana
    dalot varane lindelof regulion
    casemiro maguire
    antony fernandez rashford
    hojlund

i honestly think most teams would struggle to get through the middle of that, and any defensive clearances made by the other team would most likely be sent wide, meaning greater chance of going out of play which ends up united possession. with both maguire and casemiro box to box, you've got 2 very strong aerial threats covering most of the field. putting martinez and shaw on that when they are fit just makes it even stronger

  12. Despite their recent "good" performances (good only by their own normal levels, not as measured against other Premiership players), the truth is still that Maguire, & McTominay are simply not Top5 Premiership level and never will be. Nobody leapt to buy them when they were available on the market. The fact they can fit into this ManU squad only signals how bad our situation is, and when they play we get a boring, negative pedestrian display with low ball skills, no passion etc. Of course, there are more players in the squad at fault – no-one appears to be giving more than 50% of their potential at the moment, possibly hinting at deeper off-the-pitch problems. In reality, we are not going to win anything this season, and a top 4 finish also looks doubtful. Given that, maybe it is the right time to bring on the younger players and start building the future team, not keep breathing false life into fading careers? Doubt that ETH will be allowed that luxury under current ownership, where the chase for revenue today is all that matters.

  13. Honestly lost all confidence in the manager. Simple stuff that we all see as fans he just doesn’t see. Playing Eriksen against the bottom 12 is a no brainer. After seeing Rashford on the right, I would LOVE to see Antony tried on the left, let’s be brutally honest, as a right inside forward, he’s barely championship level, he is bottom tier awful. So try him on the fight, he works hard, let’s see if he can beat his man and get a cross in on his good foot, sorry only foot! . If you’re going to keep Antony on the right you might as well sell him tomorrow because he is never going to be good enough.

  14. Agree with a lot you say. But do not agree with yours first 2 points. I don’t rate McGuire but you sound like a bad hater, and not seen anything from Amrabat to say he can dictate a game. It’s ok to be wrong now and again Stephen

  15. Imo UTD & Maguire would mutually still benefit from a parting, assuming he goes to a high value team especially abroad – travelling gives you a push, in itself, which UTD need a player that is faster movement and thought consistently. Having said that an intervention he made in the play prior to that which led to the goal – intercepting to keep the attack going, and playing it wide – shows something he does too little of… And he scored; if he did much more of that from dead balls, it's another script.

Onana is not playing the game he was bought for because the entire back line is not there with that atm, for the secure playing out routines. I have real confidence that purchase can work out; he and Hojlund will prove their value.

Before the Sheff Utd game I saw Brighton lose to City and yearned for that intelligence, strong secure passing and moving for BOTH sides. Later UTD looked like a mid-table team playing a bottom of the table team, and only just winning (rightly)
Fab Fergusonian dramatics vs Copenhagen, but the table is not lying, at all. The weekend needs a huge step up.
It's particularly irking as in the same city, UTD have had the front seat in the lecture theatre for YEARS as to the best possession & pass and MOVE football anywhere, yet are still way off that example.

  16. Funny that so many is talking about Eriksens legs and he can't play 90 minutes two times a week. He plays full time every match for Denmark, controlling and deciding the games.

I agree he is best in United opening the lesser teams and not battling the mitfield. But instead he can take control with a lot of composure, either by keeping the ball in the team or hitting the deep balls quickly.

On the National team he got Højbjerg and Delaney/Nørgaard doing the hard work behind him. So he can concentrate on creating chances.

  17. one thing we learned is that we need to buy better fowards or wingers in the winter window
this season our wingers are playing as though they never played football in thier life
like our top goalscorer is a midfilder and if we dont find a issue to our problem of scoring goals
we may finish 11th if our attacker are still struglling to score a goal

  18. I can't understand how Marcus and Bruno are starting every game and providing absolutely no output whatsoever.
At the very least, Garnacho and Mount both deserve a start in their preferred positions and I do wonder if they'd recycle possession better and create more opportunities for Hojilund.
On the right, there aren't many legit options but if Anthony continues poor form, then sure Pellestri has to go back in.

Same in midfield – Hannibal has played well and never gets a second chance.

I hope Erik finds the courage to make changes because it's been dreadful.

  19. I saw one of the tv channels show some match stats with Maguire in and out of the team. Our win percentage is remarkably high with him starting, but he only started about 25% of the games covered. The problem I think is that big teams know how to exploit the evident “mistake” that’s in him. The stats showed we only lost one game with him starting, or something crazy. That game? From memory, probably the away leg in the Europa League exit last season, which ultimately sewed up the narrative that both Maguire and De Gea were the misfits in the project. And yet, the papers are saying De Gea may come back in on a short term deal, and Maguire is defying the script with match winning contributions to the team in the last few games. I’m no Maguire apologist, despite this comment and I prefer all other options we have when fit. But he’s doing a job when needed, what more can we ask for?

  20. Credit when is due … Maguire has been decent albeit lucky but he really is making his own luck at this point and we definitely need all the luck we can get right now.😢😢😢

  21. Case, Mainoo, Amrabat, Mount, Eriksen, McTominay and Bruno all back. ETH just needs to ensure he isn't forcing them all in at same time, playing some out of position (especially Bruno wide) and special formations just because. Stop forcing Rashford and Antony in starting lineup, theyre no in form at all.
