The problem with Phillips is he doesn't have the football brain to play in a Pep team. Every time he plays, Phillips is always 5 yards away and 5 seconds behind where he should be in the pattern of play.
Pep's a genius, but why can't he classy for once with players he doesn't like. Why is it such an ego play.
Why would Liverpool sign kalvin Phillips when they want to compete with city ? Even if you think he’s better than Endo (which I don’t) he’s not worth the money because the “upgrade” is so small. Liverpool would rather spend over 100 million on a player who’s able to compete with Rodri than 50 million on Phillips who’s not in the same league as Rodri.
Id take Phillips as a rotation player at Villa if price is right.

I know it’s unlikely but I still feel that there is a chance because he came from Bielsa’s Leeds team. I highly doubt that he didn’t work hard to get into that team. But, that hasn’t happened at City at all. He just hasn’t played well and looks a step behind and off the pace. He did also have a serious injury as well. We’ll see.

Kalvin Phillips is a better player on paper then Endo but Endo represents everything Klopp loves in a player. He's a workhorse with ridiculous stamina, High IQ and a proven leader.
Phillips is none of those things.
I honestly feel like it’s a lack of progression on Phillips’ side as well. If our center-backs are better on the ball and make better decisions than you, it mean you shouldn’t be on the pitch. Especially at that position because we all know how important the holding midfield role is to Pep and unfortunately Phillips just hasn’t developed the skillset for Pep to hand him the keys. I feel like these guys don’t understand that Pep doesn’t make the transfers, the Sports Director, Txiki Begiristain does and has been for near a decade. He’s one of the big reasons Pep came to Man City, since they worked and played together in Barcelona.

Its ridiculous how these guys take things out of context. Pep statement was in response to the journalist asking whether Kalvin would leave in January. Pep said once he has a squad at the beginning of the season he won't remove anyone as they're all part of the team, and hence he wouldn't let Kalvin go this Jan. And then he said what Rory read, although he wouldn't want Kalvin to leave, its the club and the board's decision.
City have been trying to buy Englands heart with the Grealish and Phillips purchase. They want a feel good story instead of all conquering moster wins. Thats just my strange theory.
