Giving here a penalty was one of the 5 or 6 bad decisions refs made in the advantage of Argentina.
The referee Lahoz was a nightmare, Acuna committed two clear fouls against Denzel Dumfries.
It hasn't to do that I am a Dutchman, it has to do with fair play. The secons foul of Acouna was on the ankle of Dumfries. Not even a yellow card, no VAR, what in the hell was going on?
In the second half one of the players of Argentina kicked the ball very hard in the dug out.
He should have been sent off and Virgil van Dijk made also a very stupid move against this player, he could have been sent off as well.

Well he missed the ball and stopped him from going in attacking position by tripping him, even though he got down very easily, the contact happend with him, not the ball, in an attacking position, in the penalty box. So, it was obviously a 50-50 chance, not a clear cut, "gifted" pen. In which case the ref decides, which chance to take and he gave them penalty.

That referee was high… And I'm Argentinean. Just look at how the match evolved later on and how many yellow cards he gave away. To me, this wasn't a penalty. Acuña did a very good job, though, making it seem so natural and dropping at the right time. To contradict you, the Dutch player wasn{t just defending. He challenged Acuña just when he dribbled the ball, losing the challenge. Maybe he didn{t touch Acuña's right foot; maybe he grazed it. But it was the perfect moment to ask for a penalty and as Jesus said: Ask and you'll be given. And Acuña asked. Well played.
