If the opponents goal was on the halfway line England might have a chance, all the tippy tappy sideways backwards passing , they look scared to go into the opponents half.
Would any of you be inspired by Southgate? Imagine we are 2-0 down at half-time to Portugal in the knockouts of the euros. Not even getting into his insipid and predicable tactics, do you think Southgate would be able to inspire those players to do something different in his half time team talk?

We would have swept up in the last 3 tournaments with a world class manager. Southgate isn’t good enough to handle the current squad , this pool of world stars is wasted on Gareth, it’s a shame.
Southgate should have gone after the defeat to Croatia in 2018 world cup. Anybody could see what was happening when Croatia equalized, Southgate is totally inept at tactical decisions you could see that in the Euro loss to Italy and the France defeat in the last world cup. How this man has kept his job is beyond me, he's hopeless! Could you imagine a Pep or de Zerbi managing this team. We would have won the Euro's and beaten France. As people have said before would he get a job in the premier League? I don't think so. He's championship level at best. Even with the talented squad we have now we will not win anything with this man in charge! He doesn't even play player's in there best positions and he has his favourites who play but can't get a game at their clubs!! The man's a joke of a manager, he should do the decent thing and resign now! We need a manager who is a winner Southgate is not. If we do manage to win 2024 Euros it's because of our players not Southgates managerial or tactical skills. But I won't hold my breath.

If we win anything it will be in spite of Gareth, not because. Our squad is talented and with sufficient depth to always have a decent chance of winning a tournament and he has failed in three so far, and in a way that shows his inability to make the right decisions in key moments.
The problem is Southgate still chooses players not in form a "team" has to have eleven players in form. I am not a Sterling supporter but he choose him when he is way off form and now is clearly in the best form I have seen him in he leaves him out. Southgate is a poor decision maker on every metric so i don't have hold out much hope for tonight. I watched part of the match against Australia and we so poor it was embarrassing, it was so bad I turned it off. He is wasting the talent of the players.
Southgate's problem is that he's the kind of guy who will give himself a pat on the back for reaching the semis. Pep and Mourinho would rightly see it as a failure

Southgate is riding his luck as England manager with all talent at his exposure. Get a manager that's got plan A & B England should win things now.
We have no problems with Mancini going, he stepped in, won a competition, understood his time was done and stepped away so a scudetto winning manager can come in
I always wonder what must the players be thinking, they're getting coached day-to-day by the likes of Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti etc, and then come away to play for the national team for a bloke who's last job was getting Boro relegated in 2009.

Feel sorry for Southgate I really do. He could win the Euros and the World Cup and will get zero credit for it. It’s lose lose. This expectancy because we have the players to guarantee a win apparently is bullshit. No body has been able to make them look like a team in decades and we have had very good players. I remember when Southgate first inherited this team, everyone was saying there’s no expectation as they’re all young average players yet they’ve grown and he’s got us to finals. This England team is the most overrated and mediocre team.
Picking Philips alone is a sacking offence. Pep has just signed 2 more players for his position…hes never getting a game there! Starts this game like most games, very slow, very lazy….yellow card. Watching his movement, or lack of…..offers nothing. In the 1st half alone I saw Kane racing back into his own box to try to make tackles, sprinting past Philips, who is strolling! JWP has a lot more about him in every facet of the game. JWP, Rice n Bellingham would be decent. Set pieces as well. But work rate and passing…head and shoulders above philips and he wants the ball rather than hiding from it.

Italy have been shocking for a while now. There was no good teams at the last euros. England probably had the best squad and bottled it. Italy are a prime example of having an average team with a winning experienced manager top level and win a tournament , there is no way Italy should have beaten us , but for the manager . There is no way Southgate plays to our attacking strength , thats the problem

Don't get too excited, that was the worst Italian team I've seen in decades of watching international football. They are so toothless in attack the biggest shock of the game was that they managed to get a goal. There is no way Italy would have got out of the last 16 in the tournament they beat us in the final with that team and I am not confident they will make it to the Euros if it comes down to the last game where they will play Ukraine away. England will have to beat far better teams than that to win a competition and the players will have to prove they can step up against far better players than that in high stakes, high pressure games you face in the main competition which these players have yet to do. The only player who has proved he can do that was not even in the squad. No Raheem Sterling. Peace and love
