  1. last season, he played 53 games, the most number of games in his career. Also he played in many international games too. He needs some rest. I think if we could give him some rest, not playing him every single game, he would recover his form

  2. He does need games to get up to speed, should not play him as single pivot with two attacking 8s. Ten Hag needs to know the demands n expectation n media scrutiny is unlike a club like Ajax (not being rude) and time is not on his side if results and points are not on board. 433 or 442 diamond simply dont suit Casemiro’s game – there should be more question ask of our coaches n what we doing in training. I rather we go normal 352 than trying be cute/modern with inverted fb n wingers. Our manager’s tactics are too naive n with players not prepared to track back means we are simply “best team to be transitioned instead” 😢

  3. I think the biggest question is what does ETH want to do with this Man Utd team.

He built 2 different sides at Ajax, playing different styles of football. He had different profiles of players (to use the Twitter tacticos lingo).

Now he is at United for over 1 season. What does he want to do with this squad, bearing in mind he bought alot of these players.

It's alright criticising Casimeros game but for all we know, the manager might have asked him to go out there and express himself.

  4. He's over exposed in that current system and can't cover the ground that's being asked of him. He also seems to be playing a bit overconfident in his peers/naive and wanders upfield more than he probably should. Unless that's being asked of him, which would be odd. He's then trying to over compensate by diving in to try and preemptively stop counters but getting bypassed really easily. And he isn't helping things by giving the ball away as much as he does, and getting caught on the ball in dangerous areas. I think the way to get the best out of him is to play him in a deep-lying 2 alongside Amrabat as an 6/8, but would that then limit the chance creation even more…as United are already struggling to score goals? I agree with some of the other commenters that United were over reliant on him last season and played him too much due to a lack of options.

  5. Just a random thought, I'm wondering if he could play as a CB more often. Just thinking out loud but I remember him doing a good job there last season. And as for his passing, it should improve when he has the whole play in front of him from CB which would help the lack of scanning he does before and after receiving the ball. He wins a lot of aerial duels and as you said, can defend his box well. My only concern is that alongside Licha, they would both instinctively look to step out of defence to make challenges, neither of them are cover defenders. Just a thought.

  6. He had a big season last year and carried on, now players are coming back he can get a break and come back strong. Too many players are trying too hard, once they settle we'll play more cohesively more consistently

  7. Casemiro needs a cm to play alongside him. The guy is nagged, defensively United is shit, total utter shit. Forwards not tracking back and making it compact leaves opposition too much space and midfielders overwhelmed, all of these fires he commits himself to put out. Lack of creativity up top and players not making themselves available for passes also forces this desperation to play it forward.

  8. I think its clear to see that he is physically fatigue. He played hella games including worldcup last season so he is spent this season, needs rest

  9. Last season Casemiro worked for us because we often sat in low blocks looking to counter opponents, built up with long balls to evade pressure and all that played to his strengths which is intercepting, tackling and shielding the back four. This season we attract pressure by building from the back which requires our DM to be actively involved therefore exposing his ball playing skills. To evade pressure one needs ball carrying abilities and a good passing range and accuracy which casemiro doesn't have. This has made our build ups slower and less effective, it's just a shift in playing style that's affecting him. I think we can use him as a center back with Amrabat in DM

  10. I like him, but when we signed him for soo much money there was always a concern with his age and his dedication to the project. He probably don't wanna be spending his final years being in a project at united

  11. Great video. I am one of the people who have been saying that he needs to be dropped for a while now. He's been a massive problem in midfield since the beginning of the season. I'd also say that this new system doesn't suit him, which is unfortunate. He definitely works better in a double pivot next to an energetic Fred-like midfielder imo. Luckily, we have the perfect replacement for Casemiro in Amrabat. Talking about sitting deep and dictating tempo, we couldn't ask for much better than Amrabat in that department. Him and Mount make a brilliant start to a midfield for a more modern, possession based system. Maybe it's controversial, but especially after the last few games, I'd honestly start Mount over Bruno at this point. He's really impressed me and, as much as I love Bruno and he was literally our best player last year, I'm not convinced about him in a possession based system either. In a similar way to Casemiro, actually. Amrabat, Mount, and Bruno/Casemiro/Hannibal/Scott. Maybe we could look to sign Caqeret or another midfielder like him if Bruno doesn’t prove that he can be more versatile. We also have Eriksen, who could play in place of Mount, and Mainoo, who could play instead of or alongside Amrabat. We actually have a very strong midfield if we can find the right combination.

Maybe you could make a video like this on Bruno, too? It'd be more difficult since he's so good, but he's been getting a lot of completely unnecessary hate over social media from what I've seen. Whether he fits into a modern system where he needs to keep possession more is arguable, tho.

  12. We cannot expect improvement from a player in their 30's unfortunately. Casemiro was always a ball winning midfielder. We can't expect him to suddenly become good in possession.

  13. Two things, anyone who has watched Case play in Madrid knows he is not good in possession or scanning, it’s unrealistic to expect him to improve on this in his 30’s. However, he has always thrived in systems where he has easy options close to him at all times, maybe that’s what he is lacking at United this season, hence the consistent ball losses. Secondly, the whole system is flawed both offensively and defensively, he is made to defend too much space with little help from teammates and he isn’t getting easy outlasts to pass to, clearly a recipe for disaster. Lastly, the fact that almost all United players have looked way worse than their normal selves points to a system problem not an individual one, also the fact that he attacks more is likely an instruction from the coach as it’s not even his usually game.

  14. But the things about the goals is they could easily be replicated while he also plays well as most of the goals are set pieces anyway. I think he needs to be dropped. He’s been shocking tbh. The diving in and being everywhere but in front of our defense has driven me crazy

  15. I think the whole Casemiro does not scan thing is a myth. I think he scans quite a lot actually, but the problem is he does not do enough defensive scanning. He does alot of offensive scanning as he looks to release the ball forward all the time. In the Palace cup game he did that well, however we were in control in that game. Against better opposition he seems to not be aware defensively and also he does not change to take care of the ball instead of hoofing it into risky areas. Thats whay when Ten Hag was asked against Brentford why he took him off he had the perfect response…"I wanted more football"

  16. I'd argue, that there is some sort of Bruno'fication happening with him. At this point, It is difficult to say its a coincidence, that we see this rushed passing with a few players. Obviously, for a DM the consequences are different than for an attacking mid but that isn't the point. The point is the apparent urge to speed up the play in the easiest way possible, which is a long ball up the pitch.

  17. Video idea: Utds different midfield combos e g. Case/Mount/Bruno, Bat/Case/Bruno, etc and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Cheers

  18. It is not feasible to isolate a single player as the only cause of United's recent performance, since the team has had a series of subpar performances in their last eight matches.

  19. Also there was a sponsor in the summer that I can't find doing t-shirts from lesser known sides around the world. Raising awareness for lesser known cool teams. Can you remember this/ anything like this or any niche lesser known teams that are very innovative/exiting (looking for shirt that means something).

  20. He has lost his legs he is not as dynamic as he used to be, Ten Hag needs to convert him to a Centre Back lots of DMs have played there after declining while playing as Defensive Mid ,Examples are Rijkaard, Desailly, Beckenbauer, Matthaus, Mascherano, Hierro, Sammer.

  21. He just doesn't seem focused. Maybe after every year competing for trophies at Madrid, he's feeling the malaise our club infects all players with?

Either way Amrabat and Mainoo should be our 6s. Maybe it's time for Casemiro to consider MLS or Saudi league?

  22. This is why I have some concerns about ETH. If we can see these mistakes clearly he can also see them. Casemiro was never a deep-lying playmaker at Madrid. Kroos and Modric were responsible for that when building up, so why does ETH use him like that.

  23. I think we should play him at CB but am a bit worried with his luck of awareness or scanning so it's just gives stress whether to drop him or start. "I would say for now we need to drop him "

  24. I don’t think we can assume what ETH is asking Case to do based on what he asked Alvarez to do at Ajax. Overall United barely resemble anything Ajax did under ETH. Perhaps without Modric and Kroos he’s trying to do too much but that may be due to instruction.. at this point I think it is harsh to single him out as the team as a whole is not performing well.. this midfield have always played hot potato and was overall shocking even before he got here
