Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand insisted “we’re focused, we’re ready” as his side prepares to face a dogged Australia in a winner-takes-all encounter on Wednesday.
Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark must beat Australia and hope Tunisia do not win against France if they are to extend their stay at the World Cup.
France have already qualified from the group, while Australia have three points from two games, Denmark lie third and Tunisia fourth, both with one point.
“Emotions are high, very high,” admitted Hjulmand ahead of his side’s final Group D game.
Previous form at the World Cup gives the Danes cause for optimism because unlike Australia, they have made it to the knockout stages in four of their five finals appearances.
