3 points was well and truly needed. We deserved the win, but we are really struggling to create opportunities for the forwards at the moment, so much passing sideways and backwards…. And why we play so much through Dan Burn I do not know. Seems like every time we get the ball, we pass to Dan burn, who let's be honest is extremely limited with the ball at his feet, and he either wastes it, goes back or passes to a player under too much pressure.
Thought Schar and botman were very solid again today, which is nice to see for them getting a clean sheet with pope. Trippier got better as the game went on.
But again, corners and set pieces are horrendous! Get someone else taking them because we haven't put a good set piece in consistently for a long time which is odd to say with tripps in the team.
Gordon worked his socks off again and probably deserved a goal

I think we're really struggling to link that midfield and attack.

The front 3 we went with today are all "end product" sort of players. Their best attributes are probably when they're through behind a defence.
So when they have to keep coming short, with back against the goal it's hard for them to them lay off and create an opening because the midfield is too slow moving the ball or plays the simple sideways/backwards pass.

We really need to find that balance again with the midfield and front 3.

It works if its say isak up top and say Barnes and Gordon on the wings, because isak links up play well, and can finish a chance and Barnes is a great finisher.

But if Wilson is starting, we need to have someone like joelinton on the left, or even Murphy on the other side who is more of a link up winger.
We just lack that dynamic at the moment and with almiron, not offering end product or link up play at the moment, just hard work. It's a struggle down that right hand side.
Gordon done well there but he's been too cautious at times and should probably just try and stretch the game and the full back a bit more.

Either way, a win is a win. And it helps we got a clean sheet.

Not sure why howe didn't bring in the likes of livramento, hall, Lascelles to be able to rest some players for 15mins or so because you'd imagine Trippier, botman, Schar are going to start against Milan.

So that's going to be interesting to see next week.

I’ll have people jumping down my throat here. Still concerns once again took off our dangerous player in Barnes off when we’re in-front with a tight league had we of lost or drew which has happened before after taken a dangerous player off is worrying in my opinion.

Allan Saint Maximin has just scored a fantastic goal. Marcus Thuram has also scored a fantastic goal. Terrible mistake selling Saint Maximin and not signing Marcus Thuram on a free. Howe out.

We have to keep those front 3 so they learn from mistakes and each other but moreso that the midfield can hook up and play as a team. WHERE IS YOUNG HALL, give him some minutes to get his adrenalin pumping? We know he is strong so let's see him out there.

Nervous was the word to sum it up

Newcastle won't get top ten this season,and I think we will lose 9 or 10 games,and I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea recall hall from his loan,why would you loan one of the best young players in the country and not start him in a single game and play one of the worst defenders in the prem instead that's why I think Chelsea might recall him.

3 points is 3 points but some players on the field need dropped .. whats happenrd to burn.. even though milan lost they will still be harder than todays opponents were ..

Tbh I didn’t care how the win came just as long as we got the win. Yes it was a nervy performance but it was always going to be after the run we’ve been on, but this will have given the players confidence

Why buy Lewis Hall if we ain’t going to start him? Buying players for the future is great and all but left back was a position we needed to buy a player who can slot in and improve the team straight away. Our left side is weak there’s no potency on that side. Burn offers no attacking threat. We need Willock back ASAP he’s been injured far too long.
