    The second ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand at Dhaka witnessed a rare and remarkable gesture of sportsmanship from Bangladesh captain Liton Das, who recalled Ish Sodhi after he got run out at the nonstriker’s end. The incident happened in the 46th over of the innings during Hasan Mahmud’s bowing.

    Mahmud noticed that Sodhi was leaving the crease too early and flicked the bails while approaching his runup. The umpire gave him out as Sodhi smiled and started to walk towards the pavillion. However, captain Liton Das went up to the umpire, Marais Erasmus, and spoke to him, after which he called Sodhi back, withdrawing the appeal. Sodhi then walked up to Hasan and hugged him, with the legpinner also appreciating the gesture.

    The gesture was applauded by the commentators and the crowd, who appreciated Liton Das’s fair play and the spirit of the game. This form of dismissal has become increasingly common in the game, with it being included in the official rules of the game. It is still viewed with a critical eye, as some find it completely fair while others don’t have the same opinion.

      I really don’t understand why people comment saying it’s good sportsmanship? Its the batsman’s fault for leaving the crease early and thats an error done by the batsmen. Leaving the crease early is definitely unfair and the bowler has all the right to run the batsmen out. Batsmen should learn to stay increase.

      Is wakya pe pehle yeh batana Chatha hoon ki Pehle toh BC isse mankadding kehna band Kar and call it runout and next there is nothing wrong in getting a non striker run out if he is backing up to far…stay in the crease till the ball is bowled plain and simple
      ..there is no spirit of the game in not getting someone out….spirit of the game should not be questioned when something is done as per the rules of the game….calling your players back when umpire doesn't give a noball and breaking things in the dressing room is not spirit of the game….
