  1. George going, he's such a master of the dark arts just reminds me of Ben White's smirk after he grabbed Sergino Dest's ankle when he was trying to run away against PSV. It doesn't hurt that every one keeps saying "he doesn't like football" when he said he doesn't watch football for fun when he goes home because he's there with his family instead. Like the twist on the narrative around him is a dark art in and of itself. It's so brilliant. The little kicks to the underside of boots of opposition players when they run past just to get under their skin. They way he would rile up GKs by standing right next to them and blowing on the back of their ear. If any player makes you laugh when you watch them, it has to be him. He's basically pranking people on the pitch.

  2. He gets cooked a lot on defense by tricky wingers. He makes me nervous. He’s good going forward and a fairly solid defender as long as he isn’t backing up.

  3. I feel his underrated because we see him in the same category as Ramsdale, "okay, has some highlights, probably a fail comp somewhere and we'd drop him in a heart beat if we could."

  4. Doesn't help that any player with Flair has cooked Ben White or the fact that Ben White loves to backoff like Mustafi/David Luiz when engaging them instead of being aggressive or taking them to their outside foot. Cases such as Mitoma 3-0 Brighton loss at the Emirates, vs Rashford in the last 3 appearances, Grealish at the Etihad and recently Noa Lang.

He was also quite shaky vs Zaha at Selhurst Park last season opening premier league fixture but he had Saliba next to him who produced a masterclass premier league debut.

  5. i think Ben White is amazing. The only "weakness"/nitpick i could say is of his 'backfoot defending'. he reads the transition and has great anticipation which aids with his aggression. But, in scenarios where he doesnt get to be the aggressor and stop the first ball, he could struggle.

For example, the Rashford goal. When the ball was played perfectly just of out his reach, he was smart enough to recognize he wasnt gonna get the interception. and when he was defending while running/facing towards his own goal, he could be beaten. he also struggled against Mitoma last season. Of course these are elite wingers so credit has to be given to them.

  6. I remember how livid some of Arsenal fans were when Mikel paid £50 million for him, including myself. I can, with utmost confidence that, that was the best £50 million spent on a defender I've seen. Excuse my poor English and grammar.

  7. Benjamin White is not underrated! You might want him to be rated more than he is. After Ramsdale he is the most expendable in the team.
Not world class at anything, he is working well in our system, nothing more nothing less.

  8. Ben White is a defender, who has developed a very healthy relationship with his right 8 and his right wide attacker. He has played CB and obviously is playing RB nominally, but at base level, he is a defender. And yes, his anticipation is superior to most other defenders.

  9. Benjamin White is another class altogether in terms of holding place and power. And I’m not talking about on the pitch, but it definitely flows over. Stone cold, shows nothing, makes everyone unsure or easy in every conversation. It’s art form he has mastered. Respect!
