Southgate isn’t protecting Maguire, he is defending his own poor decision for choosing Maguire in the squad then playing him. Southgate needs to go
Just look at them! Sickening English media and punditry, policing the general public once again on how to speak; “oh you can’t say he’s rubbish”… that man paid for his call and you dare to give him his opinion! Harry Maguire is RUBBISH! We expect nothing spectacular from him, so why start the debate if you don’t wanna hear what fans really have to say? England is down the drain as a nation with all of this agenda-based media. Take a flight people

Is Maguire the worst player at Manchester United right now? Hell no.
Am I Maguires biggest fan? Hell no
I’d love a Vidic…. But if Maguire is all we currently have available let’s back him. There is a rebuild going on and there is so much more to talk about right now. Back Maguire for now, trust in Ten Hag and try and win a game.
McGuire actually thinks he is relevant, his ego has got the better of him. He is finished as a player and is the biggest laughing stock we’ve ever seen on the pitch.
Had Southgate dropped Maguire from the England squad earlier he would have left Man United to play regular football and in turn Maguire’s fitness, confidence and ability to play as a defender would have improved and we would not have been here in the first place. Southgate is really starting to undo the good work he has done so far and is most likely going to ruin the chances of England winning anything because of the distraction Southgate has purposely chosen to create in order to hide from having to take criticism for some of his tactics and his cynicism to play a more attacking side.
The fact is Maguire does get a lot of schtick. Maybe he deserves it and I don't think there is anything wrong with valid criticism, but I do think it has gone beyond that with Maguire. Let's remember, just a few months ago everyone was praising Dele Ali for talking about the struggles he's had, he is someone who has faced a lot of criticism from the media, but now with Maguire everyone is piling on as well. I do think sometimes people forget these players are people. Like I said valid criticism is fine, but I do think the media sometimes try to find that funny zinger that will get views, etc.
I have never seen a manager at the elite level so far out of his depth than Southgate.
