  1. Would love to see The Fallout in titles of videos. I know it might not be the best for new clicks, but I like to keep up with the weekly series!

  2. What's interesting about your Chelsea right side point is, you said the same about Palace last year with Eze, Olise etc. And it cost Viera his job.

I'm not saying it'll do the same for Poch, but just highlights the need to get the stars on the same hmyn sheet

  3. Poch needs to go back to what worked in pre season. He played a 4231 but players were played in their correct position. I think teams have figured us out already with us being a team that only plays down the right. As much as I love Chilwell, he is not a LW and adds nothing to the team when he plays there.

  4. You are ridiculous with your bias. You are basically Son’s hat trick is because of James Maddison? English bias is just sick. Literally Son was a golden boot winner two seasons ago without penalty.

  5. I do think eventually Chelsea will get the balance right but at the moment, and even though this might sound crazy, Chilwell is the best player to play that left-sided attacker role. He's got the positional acumen and attacking threat but at the end of the day he's simply not an attacker.

However, I will say this – multiple times the midfielders simply ignored really good runs that Chilwell made due to this "bias" you mentioned. I think the two-dimensionality and fluidity will come with time and as the players get to know each other's tendencies and the right player are put in their respective roles, the ball movement should get quicker and more unpredictable.

  6. 23:55 – Raumdeuter
The word essentially translates to ā€œspace investigatorā€, and is best used to define the German's effective role when exploiting the half-space. A Raumdeuter's main function is to drift infield and find pockets of space in which to thrive

  7. Great stuff James. There is another key feature of Maddison in that goal of Son’s where James makes the second striker sacrifice: Madders knows where Manor is going pass (to Son) and deliberately gets into the goalkeeper’s sight line so he has less time to react. That is next level game thinking.

  8. For quite a long time now, England and Spurs have been comparable, in that the best England and Spurs players are in the same positions and that for several years England and Spurs have had defensive minded managers. Hey im not suggesting for a second the Big Ange should manage England but it is exactly what England need right now considering what players we have and their attributes. Southgate needs to go to the championship or Italy or something, as far away from the England squad as possible.

  9. It's really fun to see you brits being excited for things we've seen in other countries for decades now. Just as if positional play or high press didn't exist until a team in the premier has done it. Szobosalai positioning for instance is nothing new: Deco, Van Bronkhorst, Ronaldinho… (Or Rakitic, Messi and Alves with Luis Enrique, or even Luis Enrique, Figo and Reiziger). And that's just from Barcelona, you can take any of the plays in the video and find famous players and teams all around doing them consistently years before… (I can think of savio, RaĆŗl and van nistelrooy or Guti or Morientes for instance for the doku play)…
