  1. A not so quiet reminder to those not convinced… most sources suggest Ange had the choice of a few midfielders and picked Aaron Mooy over them all. Australia's two best players, technically at least, were always and still are Aaron Mooy and Tom Rogic… though Ajdin Hrustic is quietly making his own case in that regard. While he not the same marauding attacking midfielder that Tom is, his vision and depth of passing from deep is far better than Tom's and the pair always linked up well, he's also quite the finisher when given an inch of space. I've not been one to call him a 'defensive midfielder' myself but most top coaches seem to think he has the grit and physicality to do that. If you do your research… much like when Ange first arrived… you'll know how good a signing this is.

Dig deep though because your average goal&skills~comp_2022 with stupid music isn't gonna show what kind of player he is. He does his best work off the ball and in the half space on his first few touches. He'll never interview well… he's a shy lad and always will be… but he is a different beast on the pitch. There's a reason nary a Championship club wasn't looking at this space with bated breath to get him first. Easy to work with professional, hardworking and talented.

Check out some Optus Sport interviews with Martin Tyler, some of Mooy's goals in the EPL… and you'll see what kind of player you can have. He's one that will at a minimum be a squad player… but if he gets going with confidence… he'll be a near-starter pushing the best midfielders to work harder to keep their spot. His drawback is 3 years in the dredges of China's topflight where ambition and talent goes to die… but if he's come to Celtic to work under Ange, something in him has refused to die and wants more as a footballer. Ange doesn't suffer layabouts who refuse to improve and be the best player they can be. If he isn't up to scratch or underperforming… he'll get no mercy from the Big Man.

Regardless it'll be a story I'm rooting for a happy ending to. He's a humble player and honest-to-goodness genuine person– so I hope he succeeds.

  2. Never seen a Mooy interview where he doesn't look uncomfortable. He seems almost introverted but does his talking on the pitch. Great signing

  3. another good thing is that the Japanese boys know all about Aaron Mooy, might not have played on the same team, but they know his capabilities having played against him. He will slot into the squad seemlessly.

  4. Mooy, Bhoy, Joy!
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Mooy, Mooy, Mooy!
The chants are going to be good if he fires.
He has the ability to be a top player in the Scottish premiership, and handy in the Champions league.

I still remember watching him play live for Melbourne Heart against my team Melbourne Victory here in Melbourne. It'll be nice to watch him play for my team in Scotland instead of against us.

  5. As an Aussie…I couldn't be happier.. Mooy will impress this year…maybe even more than Rogic has….But, this is the most I've ever heard him talk in the media ever!

  6. Love Aaron Mooy my favourite socceroo. so softly spoken but get him on the pitch and he turns into beast mode. glides around the pitch like hes not even trying, but his passing range is just what celtic needs. he"s gonna be a first time starter as soon as his match fit im calling it now

  7. When he played his final season in Australia before he went to Huddersfield he was absolutely unplayable. Setting up goals and scoring them at will. He loves to also get stuck in the tackle. Very versatile midfield player, can play at the 10 but is probably now more suited at the 6. Dont worry about his speed either, his brain is where his speed is at. He plays chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He is a tidy player and will do well for celtic. He makes excellent decisions on the field.

  8. We get so excited over the most Mediocre players it's getting hilarious… Anyone wanna bet we don't get 3 points in CL? and fall down the pyramid like a stone?

    Calm the fool down bhoys

  9. Always liked Mooy as a player, think he will find kyogo & the wide boys pretty well. Another decent addition to the team, forward thinking. His experience will come in handy, welcome to Celtic my son, hail, hail

  11. Was Brightonโ€™s best player in the premier league a couple of seasons ago. Took a big money move to China while in the form of his career. Hasnโ€™t showed any sign of dropping off. Will be a great pick up for Celtic

  12. Welcome to Celtic and paradise Aaron ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

  13. Hope heโ€™s more confident on the pitch than in front of the camera. Saw him on Saturday and he had 1 or 2 good touches. Might need to give him until the World Cup to get up to ange standards.
